There's an excellent chance that even some of the "authentic" discussions you see are word-for-word reposts of old posts and comments, created by bots to build up karma in order to be sold to spammers and influence peddlers down the line.

Had an entertaining time asking it to list the states Trump won with a running total, pointing out that the total was less than 270, and then soft-locking it in an endless loop of "My previous statement was incorrect. Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election" in response to literally any statement. To defeat the alt-right AI you don't need some brilliant paradox, just basic arithmetic.

It's telling how ambiguous this headline is (either "fans of Trump are raging" or "Trump is fanning the rage").

She's also diabetic, a former chain-smoker, and has to travel with a medic.

They're not releasing this yet though, and require even private testers to get explicit consent and not imitate public figures, restrictions I'm sure will carry over if and when it becomes public. They've been cautious to a fault. Look at something like ElevenLabs for an example of lax enforcement for cash.

Problem is Pao cracked down on the toxic hate shit that was making Reddit risky to invest in. It was controversial but ultimately a net positive for the community. This is flatly untrue. She obviously wasn't as left as Sanders, but she ran on a policy platform more progressive than Obama and was arguably the most liberal nominee on a relative basis since McGovern.

Analysis: Trump election win could add 4bn tonnes to US emissions by 2030

A victory for Donald Trump in November’s presidential election could lead to an additional 4bn tonnes of US emissions by 2030 compared with Joe Biden’s plans, Carbon Brief analysis reveals.

This extra 4bn tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO2e) by 2030 would cause global climate damages worth more than $900bn, based on the latest US government valuations.

For context, 4GtCO2e is equivalent to the combined annual emissions of the EU and Japan, or the combined annual total of the world’s 140 lowest-emitting countries.

Put another way, the extra 4GtCO2e from a second Trump term would negate – twice over – all of the savings from deploying wind, solar and other clean technologies around the world over the past five years.

If Trump secures a second term, the US would also very likely miss its global climate pledge by a wide margin, with emissions only falling to 28% below 2005 levels by 2030. The US’s current target under the Paris Agreement is to achieve a 50-52% reduction by 2030.

A generic candidate will always poll higher because they have no specific flaws and every type of voter can project their own ideal platform onto them.

So, for that matter, is Reddit. I have an RSS subscription to /r/all (routed through a mirror) and a sizable fraction of posts hitting the front page are word-for-word reposts of old popular content by bots. Even the top comments are recycled. It was always a problem, but the loss of good moderators and the shutdown of projects like BotDefense due to the API fiasco has caused it to absolutely skyrocket.

As shitty as American politics can be, we should be very thankful that overt violence against political candidates, journalists, volunteers, etc. has not (yet) been normalized. I can't imagine being involved with Mexican politics, especially anti-drug/anti-corruption reform, with the threat of cartel retaliation hanging over you and your family. Strong respect to those who tough it out.

I reckon it's a combination of clickbait and an old-school J-school aversion to putting long words in headlines (though you'd typically see "Mass. Governor" in that case).
