  • I can't imagine how soul-destroying it must be to put so much time and effort into a big-budget game like this only for it to flop so utterly. Even notoriously bad games sell at least a few thousand copies; being ignored is even worse. I'd say "at least it's not an indie game," but then most indie developers would expect their games to have minimal uptake these days.

  • "WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, DON'T MAKE LEMONADE. MAKE LIFE TAKE THE LEMONS BACK! GET MAD! I DON'T WANT YOUR DAMN LEMONS! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THESE?! DEMAND TO SEE LIFE'S MANAGER! MAKE LIFE RUE THE DAY IT THOUGHT IT COULD GIVE CAVE JOHNSON LEMONS! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! I'M THE MAN WHO'S GONNA BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN! WITH THE LEMONS! I'M GONNA GET MY ENGINEERS TO INVENT A COMBUSTIBLE LEMON THAT BURNS YOUR HOUSE DOWN!"

  • Blithely continuing the blatant reposting of the same old submissions, especially the same two dozen years-old Twitter screencaps. Lemmy doesn't even track user karma, and it's still way too small to bother selling accounts for astroturfing! You don't actually have to karma-whore here!

  • If I could mandate one rule for the fediverse that it didn't already have, it would be a hard ban on reposts, especially those undated Twitter screencaps that took over entire subreddits the last few years.

  • Katamari Damacy. It's got one of the most infectiously joyous soundtracks of all time -- an eccentric, richly-produced, and incredibly catchy melange of funk, salsa, bossa nova, experimental electronica, J-Pop, swing, lounge, bamboo flute, hair metal, buoyant parade music, soaring children's choirs, Macintalk fanfares, and the single best theme song this side of Super Mario Bros. And beyond being insane earworms, many of the tracks have surprisingly deep and meaningful lyrics.; my favorite is probably the beautiful "Cherry Tree Times", which I've seen described as "[using] the gameplay mechanics as a metaphor both for the twinge of nostalgia we could feel even in childhood toward our younger selves and for the experience of falling in love."

  • When I fly Southwest, you're supposed to check in starting 24 hours before to get a decent position in line. You can pay extra to get a guaranteed spot in boarding group A, but as long as you check in on the dot you'll get at least B. Wait till the last minute and you'll be stuck in a middle seat in the rear on most flights. Not sure how it works with other airlines, though.

  • It's cult shit. Not even mobsters would care about threatening grand jurors after an indictment has been unveiled. Regular jurors, sure, but that's only because the outcome of the trial is on the line. But the Trump cult of personality ensures there's a legion of stochastic terrorists out there to retaliate against grand jurors out of pure spite, even when there's no practical reason to do so.

  • They went independent again a couple years ago, which is great for creative freedom but necessarily means they have fewer resources. I'm glad they're taking their time though, if it helps them maintain a high level of quality. I did some googling and it does look like they're actively working on at least one upcoming video, potentially up to five at once given past teasers. They've also got a side channel with interim content and a Patreon with a private Discord if you want to keep closer tabs.

  • Reddit lets you create "multireddits" that show posts from a custom collection of subreddits. It would be cool if you could do the same for different communities, perhaps even pooling comment sections from posts with the same submission link. So you could aggregate content from all the technology/politics/whatever communities on various instances, and see combined comments on the same story from across the fediverse. Then you wouldn't have to worry so much about being on the "right" instance, and could better leverage the size of the overall community instead of having it splintered and hard to discover.
