Assuming you're not a native English speaker. It's a filler word. It doesn't really mean anything, it's used more to communicate tone.

And I don't think you understand the problem. Nothing is preventing Facebook from displaying ads. Facebook's issue is collecting user data and using it to directly target ads. They can make it so that a user can opt out of personalized ads and still show ads to that person. Companies would still pay to display their ads, perhaps not at the same rate but that doesn't mean Facebook would be losing money by serving those users.

Let's not act like Facebook is going to go bankrupt if some of their users opt out of data collection and targeted ads.

Me personally? Anyone who acts in a way that suggests that they are literally trying to exterminate me.

They worry to much about "escalation" and the Republicans saying "don't you do that, or we'll do it too!". They were going to do it anyway as soon as their old tricks didn't work.

Probably. And if Biden said "Trump supporters need to be exterminated" then we'd be saying the same about him. This is not a double standard.

But the genocidal president promised us a better economy or something! What's a little cultural oppression if it means cheaper eggs at the grocery store?

The messed up thing is that even locking him up might not stop it, and in fact may accelerate it. We're f'ing doomed.

That's the thing. Republican politicians have a corporate mentality. They pretend to care about the customers, but their true allegiance is to the shareholders. And that mentality has worked surprisingly well for them for decades. Pretend to care just enough about social issues, but don't do anything too controversial, all the while enacting legislation that disproportionately assists the 1%. They had a good thing going.

But they kept wanting more. They kept going back to the social policy well to get more voters because they weren't getting enough buy-in on their fiscal policies. Now you've got more elected politicians willing to push unpopular social policy when just ten to fifteen years ago they knew better for the most part. This new batch of Republicans actually intend to enact their regressive policies when previously they were content with merely stymieing progress and loudly complaining.

Now that they've reached a critical mass of people who don't know better or don't care, they have started enacting deeply unpopular policies. They don't know our care how unpopular they are because they can't imagine anything outside of their echo chambers. They're listening to the loudest 10 people in the room while ignoring the quiet 200 who will only speak at the voting booth. And voters have finally had enough. They may not love what the democrats are doing, they may even think that the democrats are doing a terrible job, but they absolutely hate what the republicans are doing even more. I'm betting that a large number of apathetic voters are starting to show up.

So republicans resort to every trick in the book to silence the majority who disagrees with them. Gerrymandering, purging voter rolls right before an election, closing poling places and limiting hours, restricting absentee voting, holding special elections during times when voter turnout has historically been very low, enacting voter ID laws... Every single trick they can think of so that only their voices count. And that still isn't enough.

They're doing what the people who voted put them there to do. The only problem is that those people apparently don't actually represent the majority, and republicans absolutely refuse to accept that.

Don't worry, it's completely acceptable that you neither know about nor care about a billionaire's daughter.

Yeah, I got COVID after being vaxed too. My biggest symptom was just complete exhaustion and body aches. Mild cough for a couple days. It lasted about 5 days for me too. That said, I wonder how much worse it would have been if I wasn't vaccinated.

No kidding. It's effectively meaningless posturing. At worst the company will dock them half a sick day and tell them to get back to work. There's no risk to them doing this, and there's no incentive for the company to change their policy based on this. They couldn't even do a full day. This is just a long lunch. The only way they could have made it more meaningless is by staggering their strike times to ensure coverage.

The company's just gonna say "Cool. Is that all you've got? Are you done with your tantrum? Great, now come back to the office like we asked."

Exactly. Some people get a flu shot every year. Now it's going to be a flu shot and a covid shot.

Virus evolves, scientists do their best to predict which particular variants are or will become most prevalent. Vaccinations are made and administered based on that data. Rinse and repeat.

There are times when the models are wrong or variants progress in unexpected ways. In those cases you might see a mid-year booster.

Vaccines don't guarantee you won't get sick, but they reduce the severity and time to recover if you do get sick with one of the relevant variants. They may even prevent the occurrence of most symptoms depending on the person. .

Show me data indicating that a significant number of people who receive the vaccine are affected to that extent.

Anecdotally, nobody I know - including myself after being vaccinated multiple times - has had any significant negative reaction unless you count your arm being sore. "Unplayable" is extreme.

Edit:Wild - thanks everyone for your input. This just says something about basing a knowledge on a limited sample size. I see that it really depends on the person now.

I personally received the Pfizer shot as did just about everyone I know.

Man, it's like the good old days of buying physical media. You lose or scratch your CD, you don't get a new one for free.

Hmm... You know, every argument I can come up with about why that might be okay could be just as easily applied by the trans-phobes.

"Well maybe we need to consider whether people might actually act on it". In the case of gangs, they definitely do. Gang violence is as bad as ever. Meanwhile, I suspect this antitrans song will provoke far less action than some diss tracks.

"Yeah but it's somewhat of a cultural thing, if we take it away from them it's going to start a whole big thing"... Black inner city culture / white country boy culture... They'll both react the same way.

Is it just the quantity of it? There's more gang rap so it's become normalized? That doesn't bode well for what we can expect from these country folk.

Sure. And just don't listen to fascist speeches if you don't like them. Just let those nazis live their best life.

An extreme example, but my point is that we can't just ignore hate speech.

I see no way in which that attitude will end well.

And the capabilities of whoever he has cooking the books for that particular transaction.
