  • Not to mention that particular passage was added to the bible hundreds of years after it was assembled by a random scribe scribbling in the margins, they don't even understand the nature of their sacred text.. (Check out Misquoting Jesus, excellent read..)

  • It's all a part of the human condition and a major motivation for many people's actions, why wouldn't you show it? Man, everyone is getting a bit too sensitive nowadays for the thing that put pretty much all of us on the planet.

  • Any facts or verification that this was actually done by Ukraine? Seems like it’d be pretty on point for Russian propaganda to throw a few drones at themselves to whip up fervor. Not to mention the fact that it could’ve been done by partisans in Russia itself. I’d label either of those more likely than Ukrainian attacks on civilian infrastructure.

  • controversy won’t sink Reddit, but it opened the door for competitors to grab a foothold. When the API issues were happening, people were scrambling for an alternative and there was nothing there. However, for the next Reddit controversy there will be a more mature Lemmy/kbin as an alternative with superior third party apps.

    Enshittification commencing..

  • That’s not how net profit works. Net profit takes into account the cost of goods, if cost of goods, doubles, and gross profit doubles, net profit hasn’t changed at all. These companies are taking advantage of the fact that cost of goods (including shipping) have gone up to massively crank up prices, hence record net profits.

Corporate profit margins hit a 70 year peak in 2022 despite plenty of supply turbulence in the highest inflation since the 1980s.
