  • Using a browser instead of the YouTube app?

Bingo. I'm using Chrome app on WinX desktop. (and yes, I'm a total idiot who's taken too long to switch over to FF & linux)

Amazon too, along with many other services. There’s a ClearURLs Firefox add-on to remove them automatically.

Cool. Myself, I just manually clear that tracking rubbish in the URL field, but I get that such is way easier on desktop browser.

You’re using Google, that’s about as wrong as it gets in the privacy space.

And I'm also using Gmail! :S
So just for gits & shiggles-- how badly would you say I might be hurt by my foolishness, at this rate?

    @nebula224@mastodon.social

Btw, Nebula-- are you able to federate back and forth with Mastodon & Lemmy as a single stream? I'd love to see that.

  • While I see that x10,000 with google links, I don't recall I've ever seen it for YT videos.

As a google user, what... what am I doing wrong? 😕

  • despite the propaganda

Yeah, what propaganda might that be..?

  • My lease renewal typically gets tendered in mid-March, but ~5pm Friday I noticed that I still hadn't gotten anything yet. Unfortunately, the office was closed for the next 2.5days while I nervously paced and fretted, wondering what had gone wrong, and whether I'd need to move soon (having a disability makes it a major ordeal).

Come Monday I met with my property manager, and she told me that the new mgmt company sends out renewals later than usual, and that I should be perfectly fine. Still, the new company doesn't have a great reputation, and I have no idea how much they're going to boost my rent. Sounds like a lot of people are getting gouged upon that these days, so fingers still crossed.

  • The artist's so hilarious (or intentional?) about getting almost everything wrong about window frames.

Many a time his window characters can only be logically explained by being cardboard cutouts.

  • Turkish Cilbir

Oh wow, I'd never heard of that.
As a huge Greek yogurt fan and enjoyer of eggs, sounds yummers (along with some potent hot sauce).

Here's an upload test on my Imgur acct:

  • I’d post my cooking and woodworking to the proper groups but I always end up with errors when trying to upload photos.

Are you in to world cuisine? As someone regularly experimenting, I'd be interested. Right now I'm working on a South Indian eggplant curry.

Anyroad, I've had problems uploading and/or retaining images to both LW and my own instance, so I wound up creating an Imgur acct, and feel secure in their site being stable for a long time, with a pretty clear and reliable revenue stream. Plus, it's easy enough for users to avoid the ads with a minimum of effort.

  • With my options for ceasing to see this in my feed being blocking the community and blocking the poster, I want to negotiate for a third, less drastic, one.

    B-b-but, why..?

  • Hmm, y'know I sometimes complain about Gallagher recycling absurdist gags, but this is one of the better ones IMO. Compare it to the bubblegum weirdly containing super-helium, the trash ape running through the streets, the helmets and items being labelled with a generic word, and this one gives me just enough variation to be amusing, as well as having a sort of unexpected, old Persian connection.

A small example of how cultural cross-fertilisation can make for some novel art & little breakthroughs. That's just me, of course, but still in this post-Far Side age in which surreal comics & sideways-humor is common, the strip manages to stay quite unique IME.

@FauxPseudo@lemmy.world, thanks for splurging on all the examples. That was really cool. I only wish this was a Euro comic so I could do a little gallery and writeup over at EuroGraphicNovels+.

  • Yeah, I get the Gaza angle, but let's not get it twisted and assume that this is all Biden's doing. The fact is, pretty much every US regime going back many decades has been supportive of Israel, and likely would have operated about the same in this case. And let's not overlook that Biden has also been pushing for reconciliation and peaceful solutions, too. He definitely hasn't been unilaterally pro-Israel's actions, far as I can tell.

Also, if "Gaza" is really the hill some people are wiling to die on, overlooking all of Biden's overall good work, then they may find next year that they're no longer living in the democracy they used to.

Meanwhile you have Trump and the right-wingers in office gleefully chomping at the bit to sabotage Biden's efforts to turn around the Ukrainian war, which does also include genocide.

    @thebardingreen@lemmy.starlightkel.xyz

  • Hmm. I seem to remember the cat carrying on the usual traditions of frequently brawling with Spike the dog and slam-dunking plenty of trashcans under Gallagher.

But I'm guessing that he eventually grew tired of using his uncle's set-piece gags and over time made the strip weirdly his own. Point is tho (unless I'm very mistaken) HC rather abruptly went from local badass to... whatever one calls it, these days.

  • Damn.
Once upon a time, Heathcliff would have beaten the tar out of the dog for something like that.

  • Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949) has to get an honorable mention, in which Alec Guinness plays eight significant characters.

  • Why do so many non-right wingers demonize Biden so casually?

He was just ranked 15th-best president by a large body of presidential scholars, and his record has been impressive despite the chronic automatic blocking by Groupies Of Putin. Details here: r/WhatBidenHasDone; I just wish there was a FV counterpart.

  • And then all they do is pay for the bare cost of the ingredients.

They could have tipped an extra $1000 and made a lot of people cheer. But no....

  • Please go on.

Keep your eyes on the windows.
There's often some jiggery-pokery going on...

  • Once again, one of the regulars (grandma in this case) demonstrates that she's actually a cardboard cutout, weirdly jammed between the outer frame and the lower edge of the sliding window, which somehow sits outside the house.

( yes, and someone certainly needs a life :S )

Whoa... so does this mean you can control the size of how a linked pic appears in one's posts? Plus center it maybe?

If so, is there a guide somehow on how to arrange the code?

Both things would be extremely useful to me!

  • Good job of Gallagher getting the slang exactly right(!)
