Are you seriously arguing that Stalin did not purge political opponents?

Sure 'no true Scotsman'. I've seen people who claim to be communists support Putin. I've engaged with them for hours and hours, but needed to stop for mental health reasons.

Was Stalin authoritarian? If massive purges to consolidate power aren't authoritarian, I don't know what is.

I've seen people defending Russia in their invasion of Ukraine. Russia is under authoritarian control, so I'd qualify them as tankie.

I'd define tankies as in favor of 'communist' authoritarianism.

Specifically, the 'for test flight use only' software that wasn't removed after test flight.

They have high side computers they referenced, those are specially vetted. These phones shouldn't have had sensitive info on them. If the operating system or an app had a screen recorder or key logger, you'd have a leak, even if the encryption is secure. Plus there's the physical vulnerability of people seeing it in public or losing the phone.

Debit cards have all the same functionality as far as I can tell, and you don't need to worry about building up debt at predatory interest rates.
