  • I did once test the paid version for 1€ per week for the test period. I still had ads on their app and would need to pay another 9€ to disable ads. Maybe the test month isn't a full experience until you pay 9€ a month regularly but I understand it as you pay 9€ for exclusive articles and 9€ on top to remove ads.

I don't see how this business model works out for anyone.

  • The difference is the timing.

Exploit found in closed source software:

Probably years of usage by intelligence agencies and criminals until someone notices. (with no possible way to know for anyone that there even is a exploit). And even then it might take months for them to fix it.

Exploit found in oss: Depending on the usage of the software several people are looking for security holes and they usually get fixed ASAP. Of course it is possible that there's an exploit nobody finds and a criminal uses, but it is not more likely because he can read the code. If your code must be secret to be secure your code is anything but secure

  • It should not happen if you use debian, Ubuntu or Mint stable. As long you don't do anything exotic it should not break, at not since 2018.

And if it breaks remember you compare free software made by volunteers (and paid employees from companies) with much less money and they still manage to compete with the multi billion dollar company Microsoft.

  • In my experience Linux is better at printing than windows. Especially debian based distros.

However you can just Google your printer and see if there are issues.

Edit: can't read. I don't know if there will be any change on printing since mint really just removes snap and Ubuntu stuff and adds flatpak and a few smaller details.

  • The question should be shifted.

If there is a god, does it matter?

Ok so now let's assume a god like sentient creature formed our universe. Maybe they even intentionally created us.

We have no indication that they even once interacted with us in over 2000 or rather several million years.

Let's go further and assume the god like creature is indeed the Christian God.

We have an immortal, allknowing and allmighty God who doesn't care about innocent dying, suffering and other cruelties. So if the Christian God exists he is an asshole!
