  • Ok this sounds like he knows exactly what he was doing. He knew that he could get away with it when he's claiming to be shot at. Like the southpark episode where they hunt bears and shout "he is coming right at you!" so they can legally shoot them.

  • You need to limit the options.

    Linux systems

    • Debian (stable, almost no bloatware, user unfriendly, apt)
    • ArchLinux (unstable, bleeding edge software, user unfriendly, pacman)
    • RHEL/ Fedora (semi-stable, newer software, relatively user friendly, dnf)

Then at max list 3 Systems that derive from each main OS.

    Like

Debian: Ubuntu, Mint, PoP!OS ArchLinux: manjaro... Fedora: Nobara...

Where each should be user friendly to use. Also explain what stable means, like that unstable doesn't mean shit breaks on a regular basis but rather it can sometimes happen. Normal desktop users don't need the stability of Debian. But it is nice to have if you can live with outdated software (if it isn't already on flatpak).

I mean have you looked at youtube without logging in and go on trending? It's horror. Normal people have no taste.

  • The testing branch is at most 3 weeks old. I get new software, not the newest. Kde plasma has a auto update function that works on bootup. (though I usually go into sleep mode and therefore update often by hand.)

Yes debian is pretty plain and empty but once configured it works. Sure I would recommend Mint to people who don't like to configure. However the Mint(debian) version is lacking a lot and there is no testing branch you can safely run of.

  • As long as don't know that there is anything better you will love 1080p. Once you have seen 2k you don't want to switch back. Especially on bigger screens.

On the TV I like 1080p still. I remember the old CRT TVs with just bad resolution. In comparison 1080 is a dream.

However if the video is that high in quality you will like 4k on a big TV even more. But if the movie is only 720p (like most DVDs or streaming Services) then 4k is worse than 1080p you need some upscaling in order to have a clear image now.

  • Of course debian.

However pure debian needs some love before you can use it.

If you want to use steam. Enable 32 bit arch.

If you want to use flatpak. You need to install it and add the default repo.

To install kde plasma you need only a single apt command.

    I personally run debian-testing/Trixie.
