  • Yeah I feel the same way. I just can't get any matrix client to give me the same experience I get with discord. I know they're two different programs, and that if I started with matrix, discord would be weird, but still. It's annoying

  • Huh. TIL.

  • Oh true, I didn't think of that. Edge cases, I mean. I'm just always so nervous about these autonomous things that I just kinda marked it down as generally a bad thing, but now that I'm reading what others have commented, it does seem like there are more pros that I haven't seen or thought about. So thanks for that.

(Also I noticed that you tried to ping me by mentioning me but I didn't get a ping, is that a kbin thing?)

  • Oh. Well I have to wait at this point cause my dad is my recovery email so he'll get notified when I sign in. I already got him spammed with emails when I switched to librewolf and had to sign in again on like 3-4 devices so I could've tried to do it in the midst of that but I didn't. I'll wait until we get new phones and then I'll sign in then. I'll see. Maybe I'll do it today, I thought I had done it before so idk why I have to re-sign in to microg

  • I used it years ago with an alt. Downloaded it again the other day and it's like a time capsule lol. I don't want to get my main account banned so I haven't signed in with it, but since all my subscriptions are on my main, I'm alternating between newpipe, stock app, and revanced when I want to chromecast smth (which I haven't done in a while)

  • Oh ok, that's interesting that there would be a performance impact! But that's cool that it does work. I'm honestly more worried now about getting Nvidia to work since that's what my pc has since I'm using sway, but I guess I'll worry about that when the time comes. Thanks!

  • Oh nice, that's always irritated me so much. I'm gonna work on disabling that then, thanks!

  • Does disabling fast boot make it so when you tell the computer to shutdown it actually shuts down? I found out that shutdown doesn't really shutdown after checking Task Manager and seeing the uptime

  • I'm gonna have to try this when I switch then, thanks!

  • I'm not the OP, but drat, I didn't know that bit about the NTFS drive not working nice... that was gonna be my plan for my games so I wouldn't have to re-download hundreds of gigabytes of games (Battlefield 1, Borderlands, TF2, Genshin, etc...)

  • It's ok, you don't have to do that for me lol. He did do a bit of Linux in the past, made a bunch of websites, coded and stuff like that. He just doesn't want me to get distracted I guess. Plus I've got Linux on one laptop already so I can deal. (And i just figured out how to get Arch in Crostini for my formerly un-Linux-able Chromebook so I'm gonna spend some time setting that up) His heart is in the right place i think. I mean I won't object to you finding sources if you really want to, it's just also some family stuff happened recently today which makes it not a good time to talk to him about it, especially since i talked to him about it recently in regards to swapping out my chromebook for one of the old laptops from my grandma. I apologize if this is kinda incoherent, I have to go to sleep soon so I'm rushing to type this lol

  • I want to but my dad said "no more Linux projects" Idk I told him I wanted to do it with a different drive so I would still have a windows install but he wants me to wait ig

  • I've always used Windows as my main OS, but I have experience with Macs as school computers, and now I'm exploring Linux. I gotta say Linux is probably my favorite. It's so configurable and my workflow is so smooth now that when I try and use my Windows laptop instead I find myself trying to use keybinds from my WM lol. I miss my terminal! WSL is just not the same. I have to have Windows on my school laptop, and I still have it on my PC. My hope is that I can switch my PC to Linux when Win10 loses support. Hopefully Nvidia will play nice. But I do prefer Windows over Mac simply cause I've used it longer. I've only ever used Macs on a surface level, never had my own or was able to tweak settings and such. So idk I might feel differently if I had one. But I'm definitely liking Linux a lot more cause of the customization and no update badgering lol

  • Alright, I guess I'll have to Google how to do that

  • What should I change it to?
