No society should have any businesses or individuals that are ultra rich. It's one thing to surround yourself with materialistic goods and services, but to use that wealth as power and control over a huge majority is evil. I suspect when the ultra rich have proper self-repairing droves of service robots, worker drones and obedient AI, they won't have use for most of us - I am not being hyperbole in writing this...
I want to preface that there are good people on both sides who want the bad people on both sides to stop being....bad. That said, Russia (Putin and his government) is super bad. If Putin can tie up resources anywhere else but against Russia, they're going to do it and often, it just costs them money and/or backroom political deals. The only reason I think her investigation is a bad idea, is because she's not going to find enough evidence - but not because it isn't happening.
As far as I can tell, it's a purple state. The right republican would have to come along to pull moderates/libertarians in the state and Trump will only lose the state again - he talked a lot of shit about John McCain; that's not going to go well. Don't get me wrong, every state has it's Trump cultists, but there's just not enough.
The issue I have is that so many users are uneducated and read some disinformation, take it as truth and then vote accordingly. I don’t want to see certain things but I go out of my way to use multiple sources that are as unbiased as possible. But so many consume extremely biased propaganda and live according to that constructed view that they think is reality. I know there’s no easy answer, but the problem is clear and so long as the rich can easily take advantage of the useful idiots, it’s a struggle for progress in society…
I love science, like experimentally observed science or at least practical theoretical science, but Youtube tries to shove every crackpot nonsense they can at me. I watch one political thing and now they try and shove every conservative propaganda they can at me. It feels like when I was young, the internet was too much for conservitives to understand and control....not anymore. What's the one true power conservatives have? Money. Now they're ether buying up social companies or their CEOs left right and center - or at least bringing tech leadership into the ultra-rich fold. Where they are winning without exception, is in isolating the majority of their voters. Now, there's no longer a shared reality and the divide seems to wide to close. Conservatives wanted brainwashed cult followers and did everything they could to make it happen. Now Idiocy seems far more real on the right with each passing year.
Do not that this video seriously as to what it will likely look like. Keep in mind that as our sun grows into a red giant it would already be releasing extremely lethal solar flares. The inner planets being consumed by the sun would only come long, long after cooking them. Gravity would also be interesting at this point because the sun would have less mass. This video seems to take a lot of liberties as to how the physics of transitioning into a red giant would play out.
You have to go out of your way to avoid national propaganda and put in even more effort to access other views. Half seems low but propaganda is a hell of a drug.
It's the niche topics that need more activity. I love science - mostly space/physics - and it's mostly a ghost town. Once the unique corners grow their activity, it's going to be great.
For those with time to spare: study all you can about neutron stars (including magnetars and quark stars), then go back to "black holes" (especially their event horizons and beyond) and there's a good chance you'll feel like a lot of aspects in BH theories are mythologies written in math - all of it entertaining, nonetheless.
For those who seek extra credit, study zero-point energy before reflecting on cosmic voids, galaxy filaments, galaxies, gravitationally bound celestial systems, quantum chromodynamics and neutrinos. Then, ponder the relativity between neutron stars, zero-point energy and hadron quark sea.
I'm sure there's a name for the genre, but for some reasons I intensely love incredibly talented people who jam about random, mundane, strange subjects. I really like many of his videos but this one has such a strong, unnecessary call that I always have to answer...
You have to go further than that. A huge population only cares about itself and has made it a part of their identity. Those who have it well don't have to think about those without: drive to or work from home, live and socialize on internet platforms that isolate themselves from the plight of those with less. They can order everything online and have it delivered to their door - they have no clue and depending on how separated they are from those struggling, they may just say, "those people just aren't working hard enough," or some similar line of thinking. It's not hopeless, but we need far more progress in the US, especially with wage inequality and affordable living/homes. Jeff Bazos is allowed to help buy up single family homes so the rich can rent them out....it makes me so angry and sad.
I think your consideration isn't bad and many, including myself, believe China won't attack...unless there's a weak US President/leadership. Consider that Crimea was invaded under Obama but Ukraine was outside the west's protection; same can currently be said of Taiwan but Taiwan is less about what is has to offer to the west (beyond a western friendship) and more about containing China deep into their waters. Ukraine had a lot of political tensions in the early 2010s and I think Obama was stuck in a nuanced position that ultimately boiled down to: how committed and effective will Ukraine be against Russia (corruption was a huge consideration around 2014). But Obama should have done more (including the EU) sooner. This allowed Trump to play both sides: publicly lick Putin's boots while allowing military assistance to Ukraine - pleasing the military complex at the very least, regardless of who won. But even as Trump's administration was wrapping up their mess, you could tell some in the GOP were setting a stage for pulling back military assistance; still are trying. Biden made sure assistance was unwavering and wants to degrade Russia in the eyes of the world while the west's military complex shovels in taxpayer money. Taiwan, under Democrat leadership, is an easy choice: they're not corrupt even with their wing of China friendly politicians, they're trained and continue to be armed to the teeth with only one purpose: hold until the west comes to their defense (including S Korea and Japan). I honestly believe Hong Kong was too hard to defend from China but perhaps it might have played out differently under a Democrat POTUS. Lastly, Taiwan doesn't have to "win" so much as make sure China doesn't win; I think the US would be fine with another North South Korea tension if it keep China in their waters and off of Taiwan and their waters; most notably off of their eastern waters/shores.
