  • If he does his job well, he can get the money. Deal?

This means being responsive and responsible when issues happen with water, heating, electricity, mold and vermin. It means making sure that if they repaint an appartment, they don't just set a bomb in there to splatter the place. Actually remove the cupboard doors before painting. It means not painting over electric outlets.

It also means not cutting the water for three days a month, replacing the toilet when it breaks, not a week later. It means maintenance on the building's laundry room. Clean shared spaces. Secure entrance that actually locks, and actually unlocks.

Those are only some of the issues I had when renting. It is demeaning to be treated like that, and then be asked for money.

  • I revived an old computer using Mint, and it works great, but that's for my brother who just browses and does spreadsheet and writing. I'm a bit more involved with how I use a computer and it is difficult enough to setup a wireless Xbox controller that I am considering automating it for future use and make that public. Note that I know fuck all about how to even begin, and I might give up halfway through, but the point stands that the motivation was triggered by a lack of user friendliness.

  • The cleric immediately getting offed is literally how I run my games. I always go hard and try to put the fear of God in the players asap so that they look forward to finding treasure and levels, giving them a push to find interesting solutions to simple problems.

Good job running the starter campaign!

  • They just told everyone they were giving them a new profile picture and at the end they said "here's your nft, enjoy!", Like that matters.

I had the default non-avatar and didn't care enough to remove that avatar they gave me.

I would assume no one tried to buy or sell the fully things, so not much money was stolen from people through that, so not a lot of people complained. I guess the lack of opportunities to grift with those is why they would have stopped.

  • The windows Terminal exists and it's actually nice. Yeah, Linux is very good for many reasons, but Windows still got a lot of good things going for it. Most people won't find their use of either to be different, except in installing accessories. The absolute unit that is windows support for just about any accessory that comes out is unmatched.

For a few examples, wireless Xbox gamepads, HP printers, webcams that require proprietary software, some of those professional audio setups.

I know that Linux has a lot going for it too, especially in the freedom of choice in how the operating system works and runs, as well as how the desktop environment looks and feels, but let's not pretend Windows has not improved since Windows 7.

  • Thank you so much for explaining the reason for the downtimes. I just thought it was some temporary issue caused by unforseen popularity. Knowing it was malicious does make me more understanding of how difficult this must be. I will continue to be patient. I am sadly not good enough with anything other than basic powershell scripts and learning proprietary software configurations.. 10 years of software support does that to a guy. I'll still check if there is anything I can do to help. I do want this project to succeed.

  • Well technically I am using a Google pixel phone to access Lemmy through an app that I downloaded from their store, using the same phone and ISP that I use to chat with my mother on Facebook Messenger, shop on Marketplace, order on Amazon and check my mails. I also tried the connect-your-phone thing to read my SMS on the computer, so Microsoft also got in.

Everyone knows everything I do at this point.

  • Yes progress! Using the quotes there make it seem like you disagree that this is progress, which I will choose to believe you didn't mean it like that.

I have seen a few pictures like this from around the world. It's pretty encouraging

  • So like, according to the organizers, if they were born with a penis, it doesn't matter if they transitioned, they are considered men.

This trans man (a person born with a vagina who transitioned ) is entering the contest, because if trans women are considered men, trans men are considered women.

So this dude is entering a "female" beauty contest to show how dumb the rules are. He is allowed to do so because said dumb rules make him a woman in the eyes of the organization.

  • Honestly I came here just a few days ago, right after Reddit admins removed that r/place guillotine. I wouldn't say that I am very far to the left, but I do enjoy living in something close to a social democracy. I wouldn't be happy in a place like the United States for example.
