I’d totally be willing chip in $20/month for the next 10 years.

I only use Goodreads anymore to track my book collection or when trying to find books for high school students at the library where I work when looking for similar books to recommend to ones they’ve already read and enjoyed.

I use it for tracking my own books because I can add a plug-in into Calibre, which automatically takes care of it, but I’ve also started using StoryGraph and hardcover.app which is a more manual process, but hopefully can get automated soon as Hardcover at least has a public API.

I’d be interested if anybody wants to share links to their own on those services. I’d like more people to follow, my links available in my bio on Lemmy

My guess is that it didn’t have to be soup. It could’ve been any other food item but that specifically soups you don’t normally get a dinner roll with it so the inclusion of the dinner roll would’ve been notable.

They believe the constitution is good the same way evangelicals believe in following the Bible.

The other thing I keep hearing is that it’s a super expensive purchase that people don’t know what to do with once they’ve got it. I’m old enough to remember when they said the same thing about early home computers ($3000-$5000 in equivalent cost) from the late 70s and early 80s.

The reason we don’t have a public option was because of one vote and a razor thin margin. Put in some work with your local chapter of the Democratic Party, and I bet you’d be surprised.

If we do the work to make sure that have 60 votes in the senate*, control of the house and presidency, I have no doubt they’d begin passing lefty legislation. For examples look what happened when Minnesota and Michigan gave their Democratic parties a trifecta in the government. At minimum we just need enough people in control (51) that are willing to offset or eliminate the non-speaking filibuster or enough people that we can have some room to have some space to negotiate with the more extreme right wing members of the Senate à la Joe Manchin.

We will still have to fight the courts that have been captured by the federalist Society, but any new appointments still get to be done by the non-fascist faction.

Nice disingenuous choice comparing a routine test that can detect something otherwise invisible to a measurement test used to view progression of an already suspected condition.

(Also, as more evidence you’re probably out of touch on the usefulness of the assessment, the term senior citizen isn’t the current term used, as it’s viewed as out of style and patronizing by members of that group. Senior adult itself is preferential to senior citizen while also declining in use and older adult seems more likely to be the current preferred vernacular by group members.)

These cognitive tests are the kind given to measure the onset of dementia when you suspect there is some sort of cognitive deficiency. This isn’t something you give senior adults just for funsies, doing unnecessary medical testing is not ethical, and it’s not some difficult test. Seriously, there’s questions where it’s connect the dots 1->A->2->B->3… and draw a clock with a specific time represented. It’s not a difficult test, and that’s the point.

You do it when there are other signs of dementia which Biden HAS NOT DISPLAYED in any sense.
