  • Thank you, I often do. I sometimes show her the Pacman game she got me whilst abroad, thinking it was Pokémon Yellow, and reminding her that I actually really enjoyed it and wouldn't have known about all the various collections of Pacman if she didn't follow my very crude description of Pikachu (which thinking back, could have been describing Pacman as well lmao).

She's going through chemo treatments, so it's more important to remind her of these things. For me at least.

  • I like this because it reminds me of Lemmings.

My mum has been a single mum her whole life, and when I was a kid she couldn't always get the most popular games but I believe she was told Lemmings would be very good. She got an entire box set, including a Christmas edition! At first I was of course distraught, until my brother installed it on his PC and I would constantly ask to play it. So many hours went into it, and it's not the first time my mum had really surprised me with something I didn't know I'd end up appreciating so much. I think I still have it somewhere...

  • Those are probably just newbies. My Reddit account is about 12 years old, and Lemmy right now reminds me of the good days of Reddit. It's ramping up that way.

I think it's great. Read about philosophy, memes, and get the occasional booba in-between. It's good Internetting.

  • As a non-Australian who stumbled across this on my All feed, I'm wondering if someone could provide some links that explain the situation this is all about?

I'm getting the jist that indigenous people are at risk of being subdued in regards to their rights, however this could be an incorrect analysis. Just looking to educate myself a little.

If this is side-stepping discussion too much, I apologise and I can delete this post if so. Do let me know either way, thank you.

  • Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice made me gain a deeper understanding of what my BFF went through, almost 13 years ago, when she took her life after battling with psychosis and not able to fight her delusions.

It's an incredibly deep storyline, and they did an amazing job at captivating the essence of how some minds work. I cried when I played, and cried when I completed it, yet they were beautiful tears all the same. Very well made game, and I actually came to this post to give it a mention as well.

  • I literally only use Reddit for porn, and whilst Relay was working and still is, I get a warning that this isn't possible unless I use the official app, or the website... All my mobile usage from Reddit has pretty much disappeared.

They should have back tracked, but doubling down is a death sentence for me. They can keep having posts, but 99% of them are already reposts from other sites - Reddit as a whole may as well be a combined Facebook style echo chamber and Tik Tok archive, because these days it doesn't feel like it's much else.

  • I buy my rolling papers in bulk, boxes of 24. Each pack costs around £1 instead of £2. I get those Connoisseur Packs with the included roach cards. Saves me a lot of money, as I do smoke a lot of spliffs if I'm honest.

  • Honestly I'm enjoying Lemmy for that reason: I've seen incredibly little rage bait. People are more likely to conversate and so on, even if it is for my silly little jokes (I like to make people laugh most of the time).

This gives me an early Internet feel, and I mean that in the best way possible. I really hope Lemmy continues to grow in time.
