We know that he "bought" teeth from slaves, and that he was a slave owner, we also know that he had dentures made of other people's teeth. No one knows for sure that the teeth he took were for his own use or from the people he enslaved himself, but it seems probable. More info here.

Ultranationalism in New Zealand seems to have its own flavour, rather than blindly following US Conservatives. That politician is Indigenous, supports Ukraine, and spoke at the UN against the genocide in Gaza.

That ambassador is a former high-ranking politician from a party that is not currently in power. This may be more to do with opportunistic score settling than alignment with Trump.

Did it to the Palestinians in the West Bank and when that failed relocated it in land confiscated from the Bedouins. It's in an artificial forced resettlement area where Bedouins have been forced to live in an Israeli-constructed town and industrial park.

Visiting a failed state just sounds even riskier.

As far as I can tell the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone are both located in Republican stronghold areas so would possibly still be acting like this to tourists, but it would be harder for my country's embassy to rescue me. Solitary confinement can cause long-term mental health damage.

Thanks for trying to cheer me up, though! I was genuinely a bit disappointed (though, very glad I read this article) but it's a reminder to think outside the box and look for other of nature's wonders that maybe aren't talked about so much and are located in places that are safer to visit.
