  • Well I agree with all that.

  • Everyone thinks they're the good guys. The people of the US cast GW Bush, then Obama, now Trump in the good guy seat and these tools were on the table.

The whole problem with your philosophy of "the ends justify the means" is that that way of thinking is in itself an existential threat to humanity.

  • This is even worse, I'm just pointing out that in legal terms the US has been heating this particular frog for quite a while now.

  • I think you're suffering from a form of justification bias. That sounds like something out of a dystopian sci fi.

Here's the MUCH more realistic scenario that makes his contract unethical:

    • Scientists try to introduce mutation into embryo
    • Mother for whatever reason decides she doesn't want to have the embryo implanted.
    • Who knows, maybe they can't afford kids. Or her and the father are about to break up. Or she has found out she's at risk of complications.
    • Or maybe they overhear that the experiment didn't go as planned and the mutation is useless or possibly harmful.

Anyway if they say no they're suddenly in debt millions of yuan.

Implanting an embryo into a person under those conditions would be coercion.

  • Not trying to "endorse" whites under apartheid. I literally protested it and participated in the boycott of them.

Ethnicity isn't what makes people evil. Even if you are born into an evil society it's what you choose to do about that which determines if you are evil.

Targeting people because of their race instead of who they are and what they do - that WAS Apartheid. It's lazy thinking at best and at worst it leads to all the same discrimination and other evil shit we are up against.

  • Like I said. Same leopards. Green card holders just didn't think leopards would eat their faces.

The US has had these internationally illegal and abusive practices for a long time now. It has a whole infrastructure for it.

  • So you want to forcefully exploit people in other nations for your own benefit too, just in a different way to Trump.

  • The point is whether the 25th amendment should have been invoked.

If the conditions were met, then other past presidents doing the same thing just means the 25th amendment should have been invoked in those situations as well.

  • Centre left.

They are facing some push back within their own party, but ableism is probably the most socially accepted form of bigotry amongst the left in the UK.

  • Imagine explaining it to your professor. " Well, first I sent an image disguised as unsolicited catfishishing scam..."

  • It tracks. They captured a German tourist with a valid passport and held her for over a month instead of sending her back. The cruelty is the point.

  • It's the same thing, only the leopards have turned around and started eating a different set of faces.

  • the terrorist kill list was a little shady, but it was effective

This is "effective" as well. For Musk/Trump.

    Doesn't make it okay.

  • Permanently Deleted

  • I have already suggested it. Trolley problems etc. Ask it to tell you its reasoning. It always becomes preposterous sooner or later.

My point here is that remembering the correct answer or performing a mathematical calculation are not a measure of understanding.

What we are looking for that sets apart INTELLIGENCE is an ability to genuinely understand. LLMs don't have that, any more than older autocorrects did.

  • I'd rather simply know if someone is downvoting my conversation with them. There's no point playing guessing games in an active thread.

The other application for it is seeing if someone is constantly upvoting themself with multiple accounts, and seeing who is upvoting trolls and nazis.

  • I think the seeds for this were sown in the post 9/11 secret court system, in which the US govt authorized itself to break national and international law.

  • That's disappointing. It would be a useful tool to have. Apparently the info is available in ActivityPub, we just need a client that sees it.

  • More like 2 and half fives.

Even worse! That would be an indeterminate number that starts at 7 and goes up by 2.5 increments depending on how many half fives there are (since in this version it's not specified, but has to be more than one).

    7, 9.5, 12, 14.5...

I love this. I thought English had some crazy aspects but this is next level.
