What is a laser image transmission? Is the laser an image that is transmitting data within that image or is it a laser that is transmitting data in the form of images? š
I never really used Reddit so I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me that power over users is one of the primarily motivators of admins and power mods.
I get the impression that one of the main goals of Lemmy World admins is simply to assert control over its users. Whether they realize this or not and are just doing habitually. There was a post awhile back about the feature of users being able to do instance blocking themselves and they were pretty against the idea of an instance that federates with everything in order for users to do their own moderation. As this would obviously take away their ability to control users.
In my opinion they are just bullies who have convinced themselves they are in the right.
I believe airlines do something similar and I agree it feels very scammy. They will do almost anything to and get someone to pay the maximum they are willing to pay for the same product. I imagine they do this the same way major tech companies like Google provide targeted ads and that is extensive data harvesting and of building a profile around you.
You can possibly protect yourself by using VPNs when making online purchases.
What I want from a new anime in the Dragon Ball universe is a prequel to the OG Dragon Ball. I want to see Grandpa Gohan, Master Roshi, Master Shen and the Ox King in their younger years with shenanigans similar to the OG Dragon Ball tournaments etc..
Working for free for a large corporation is just sad. What's even weirder is that this person acknowledges that it is basically a job, but doesn't mind not getting paid for it. I think most people that spend ridiculous amounts of time working for a big corporation for free don't have the understanding that it is basically a job.
For some people, not driving is just death from starvation
That seems like the exact kind of thing many people are against. All of this was by design in order to create a dependence on cars. This is not how it has to be. There are a lot of alternatives that are worth investing in.
I don't believe anyone would suggest to immediate destroy all cars right this second without putting in any kind of necessarily alternative infrastructure. That would be a pretty extreme stance on the matter.
I would like to see the US government stop subsidizing cars and start subsidizing alternatives such as trains so that maybe in 30-50 years we can start to see that it is possible to live without driving a car.
I hope to some day live somewhere that allows me to take a train to where I want to go mid to long distance and the ability to walk short distance to the rest.
Understandable, but at that point it may be too late as people will have cemented themselves with some of the competition such as Mastodon or wherever it may be. At least for me I am very unlikely to use BlueSky at this point or in the future because I was unable to go to the site when I had heard of it and sign up.
