  • It does a very similar job, but also it is good just to have options. I like that everyone on PixelFed is an account for photos so I know what I'm getting from everybody else. I also like the portfolio view which is a nice view of only the photos you want from your profile without any text or social aspect at all. It's a good quick link to give friends and family who want to see your photos.

  • I don't think there is much concept of necro posting here. At least not while the activity level is as it is. Better than making a bunch of identical posts.

  • Just finished the episode. As usual the Empire stuff is the most exciting. Naked Cleon fighting those assassins was pretty good stuff. The whole first season and still during this episode it has felt like there has been 2 entirely separate shows. I hope we see these two story lines cross again soon.

The stuff with Seldon having to be reminded about 3D objects having 2D shadows seems quite silly. I get that thinking in 4 dimensions is pretty high level thought, but after reading things like the Three Body Problem trilogy with how descriptive it is with the 4D weirdness and beyond it feels quite mundane. I suppose I should be mindful of the stories origins and the time period in which it was written. Assuming such aspects have anything to do with the source material. I'm not very far in the book so I can't say for sure.

  • By listening to it on an audiobook with a speaker. I don't bring paper into the bath. 😅

  • Listen to and read science fiction books. Preferably in the bath tub. I don't think there is anything more comfortable for me than that.

  • Never had an instagram account, but I have been uploading pictures to PixelFed. Nobody really comments or likes my stuff, but it's more about curating some photos online that I can send someone a link to for fun on occasion.

  • I agree as I generally don't care about individuals opinions. I prefer to follow topics rather than people.

  • The crazy part is that it is smaller than a PS5. I guess that says more about how ridiculously big the PS5 is.

  • I don't have any real meta discussion. I just have a random name suggestion.

    PC Master Class

It's kind of a joke on the idea of a master class in some subject.

  • I clearly stated my opinion in which I don't even feel that strongly about. It's just some thoughts that came to mind. I'm not trying to sneakily conspire to influence things the way I want them to be. If stating how I feel is enough to accomplish this then it must be a pretty good idea.

  • Or you don't need free speech because you have nothing to say personally.

  • I'm not telling people how to think and behave. That is a weird thing to say in my opinion. I'm sharing my thoughts and feeling. I don't mind if people disagree or have counter points to make. That is the nature of discussion.

  • More like mildly infuriating. We have the power to keep the Earth healthy, but we choose not to.

  • It's not dealt with. You subscribe to one or many of them and then your home feed will show what it shows. People should not be cross posting unless you are actively involved in multiple similar communities and intend to participate in multiple identical discussions.

If you are just posting a link, provide no thoughts of your own and then do the same in multiple other places then your post is close to worthless and is more like an ad.

  • I'm sure they would delete non-US political news if it is part of their rules.

  • US people are way too blind to the existence of the outside world. I'm sure they have no idea that Lemmy.World is not in the US. I'm not really sure what could be done about this other than making a new more broad politics community. I'd prefer the generic named community to be the one that is the most broad and then if you wanted only US politics to make a more specific community such as !USPolitics@lemmy.world.

I don't think it would be out of bounds for instance admins to force such change as they see fit if it makes enough sense.

  • I was trying really hard to recall where I had heard the name Tiabeanie before. I had to look it up, but it was definitely Disenchantment.

Glad curiosity has not killed this cat. Yet.
