  • I have been using uBlock for an extremely long time now and sites seem to become faster over time even though I have never upgraded my laptop all these years.

When I tried to disable uBlock for a day, my laptop forcefully shut down after 30 minutes.

Software optimization over time improves performance but is outweighted by the tracking crap they put in there.

  • Ditto (Japanese: メタモン Metamon) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I.

In its natural state, Ditto is a light-purple or pink blob-like Pokémon with vestigial facial features. It is often referred to as amorphous, but has a relatively consistent appearance in official artwork, including two small nubs on its "head", a few soft lumps at its base, and two pseudopod-like protrusions in place of arms. The face consists of beady eyes and a simple mouth; almost always pulled into a smile.

It is capable of transforming into an exact replica of any physical object or living creature, including its form and abilities. Each Ditto has its own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to transforming; being unable to remain transformed while laughing and getting details of its transformation wrong if based on memory being apparently universal.

  • Open source can make money. You can charge for training and customer support. You can also charge for binary downloads, while keeping the source code public. While some can compile it themselves without paying you, most will just pay to avoid the hassle of it.

People with your way of thinking are what causes the year of desktop Linux to never arrive.

  • The year of the Linux desktop will only come if supporting Linux becomes profitable. For that, companies need ways to make their software paid. Even though Flatpak is better than Snaps, they will flock on Snaps because that's where they can make profits.

Therefore for the sake of everyone, Flatpak must support paid apps before Canonical takes over everything.

  • Ironically, Fedora's setup becoming the future of Linux makes it easier to tinker.

OCI images used in immutable distros such as Bazzite are very easily customizable and are much safer to tinker with. If you mess up with packages, you can roll back to the previous state and fix it. Mutable distros are also like this, but the recovery process is much more complicated and leaves leftovers in the long run.

See the Tinkerers' Guide for more details.
