From my eastern block friends they are very confused how the USA could have allowed homelessness, they remember the bread lines so it's not all great memories, but they do talk about how everyone at least had a home, a job and some standard of living - where it seems the standard of living is higher in Western countries.
Your gonna have to back up that sort of statement. I'm not an apple fanboy, but I take security and privacy seriously, and they seem to really be on the consumers side in that regard. Please inform me how they push back against "good stuff" for the consumer
Honestly I think the answer is a depressing no. Your face is already on some facial recognition software somewhere (most likely). If you pay for an internet connection, your IP will be able to get traced back to your real world identity. If you have a cell phone or use a modern computer, there is so much finger printing and tracking going on that its basically a lost cause.
Now there are steps you can take to fight for your privacy, but if you take part in the modern world, I don't think there are any easy steps. The acronym boys have access to all the identifying systems and much more.
Now if you are serious about guarding your privacy, there are steps to take and a more privacy focused forum/board/community can give better pointers than me, but if you are looking to not be identifiable or untraceable by a state actors, that's some real spy level shit. Remember "they" can find and identify the serious cyber criminal players, but most of the time these guys are in countries that dont have extraditions to the US. An anonymous cyber criminal only has to fuck up once to be uncovered
I think a major factor is that many guys like the idea of dominance - it's pretty fucking core in the brain of a primate. Another core "primatey" idea is that Women gravitate towards guys with power, wealth and leaders of the pack (the whole alpha males gets a harem concept - another thing that resonates with males). Tate's idea of a leader-of-a-pack was being an asshole, and that's the secret he was pushing, and the social media outrage machine helped unintentionally push to more eyes - at least that's my take on it
Interesting - I just checked my settings in connect - I have nsfw set to blur, and I joined lemmy.world instance, and I still don't see any porn... I mean I'm not mad about it, I just wonder how we can have such a different experience. It's interesting 🤔
You don't see me wishing for the deaths of everyone in some state because my news channel tells me the governor of that state is a bad guy - perhaps if you actually had something better to say we could discuss this topic
People are hurting and the right is blaming people (because that's what the right always does), and people are eating it up. I've got a bunch of friends that are currently drinking the hate-machine cool-aid, but when I ask them questions to explain why they hold those views, they just simply can't answer - propaganda works.
For example, a good friend of mine last week said in a car full of people he wished everyone in California died of a massive nuclear blast and he would throw a party on the news of their millions of deaths. I called him out about it to explain why - he said the governor was fucking everything up. I asked for a specific detail, he couldn't think of one other than yelling woke woke woke. I asked him what woke means, he said he doesn't know but it's bad - gays and rainbows and trans and something about he has to like it. Needless to point out that he is a victim of the hate machine (his kid came out as trans, and I asked if he wanted his kid to be mistreated, and of course he wants the best for his kid...)
People don't form these opinions where they wish the death of millions of unknown people all on their own, and they usually get echo chambered into those extreme views first.
You give Musk too much credit. The fucking guy is a big baby with impulse issues - who happens to have billions of dollars at his disposal. He is running Twitter exactly as I would think a dipshit narcissistic tantrum baby would run it, although dismantling Twitter does coincidentally benefit the top .1% for now
Depends what your trying to hide and from who. Someone trying to stay anonymous from creepy dudes is fine (ops sec best practices should be used if one wants to stay anonymous). If someone with resources (say some agency) wants to figure out who you are, they can de-anonymized instantly due to all the tracking that's out there, plus any subpoena power they might have, it's a wrap. "AI" doesn't even need to come into play (not that I even know what you mean by AI)
When I played RE4 on the Wii, I felt that controllers were a thing of the past and we entered a new era of gaming - the wiimotes were just amazing for RE4 - problem was it was the only game I played that really brought the controls to the next level. Somehow humanity fell back into the controllers - real shame honestly, but I'm glad I got to experience that next level of awesome I have yet to experience since
