  • being gay is more accepted.

    Fair. A win for all.

there’s also much less pressure to conform to masculine standards. e.g., being able to talk about feelings

Not the wider experience. Men are still stigmatised for expressing themselves. Example: how often do men get to be emotionally vulnerable in a public setting compared to women?

joining in traditionally feminine careers like nursing/teaching

This is flat out wrong, it's actually getting worse.

Sex ratios in healthcare occupations: population based study.

they also haven’t used the draft in 50 years

That's because there are enough men who are financially destitute, who sell their lives into the military.

Don't need a draft when there is enough blood money going around.

  • Correct. Why would anyone go for a worse option for themselves?

Edit: A benefit to one group does not mean a detriment to others. This is not a zero sum game.

The funny thing is that the left could offer so many things for men:

    • address mental health issues
    • paternal leave / support for fatherhood
    • Less dangerous work
    • rehabilitation in prisons
    • a free lamborghini
    • address homelessness

All of which are mostly men issues.

  • To be fair, USB-C didn’t exist when Lightning was introduced

Hmm, I wonder why that was?

Lightning is a proprietary computer bus and power connector, created and designed by Apple Inc. It was introduced on September 12, 2012

Design for the USB-C connector was initially developed in 2012 by Apple Inc. and Intel.

So Apple helped develop USB-C but failed to integrate it into their products for a decade. Now, why would they do that?

  • if a firm achieves monopoly through predatory or exclusionary acts, then it leads to anti-trust concern

    Hey, ChatGPT ...?

Closed Ecosystem: Apple is known for its closed ecosystem, which can limit users' choices. For instance, iOS users can only download apps from the App Store, and Apple tightly controls the app approval process.

Proprietary Connectors: Apple often uses proprietary connectors and cables, such as the Lightning port, which can be inconvenient for users who want more universal standards like USB-C.

Repairability Issues: Apple products are often criticized for being difficult to repair. For example, the company discourages third-party repairs and designs its products with components that are challenging to replace.

  • about the most trivial things

That's so it gets interpreted as a light ribbing.

It would be mean to say it about something that is actually serious.

"You have a genetic disease. Please don't reproduce." Seinfeld laugh track

  • TLDR: They think they'll convert a large enough portion of the premium market (in specific geographic markets) that it'll put them into the top three.

Zielinski said most of the users for the Razr smartphone have converted from using a device that is “not Android based.”

Part of the growth strategy revolves around the premium segment of the market, in which Apple and Samsung dominate.

“We’re going to place as many bets as we can because we think the growth of the Indian population is fantastic, and they’re wonderful people.”

  • Will Fediverse admins moderate for child safety better than corporate social platforms?

Sure, you just turn features off.

Will teenagers want to stay on tightly-moderated servers?

Maybe not, but at least we could sleep at night. Meta, on the other hand, sleeps at night on a big pile of money.
