You didn't list one of the main uses of a downvote: lowering the visibility of poorly made or unfitting content. If you believe that a post or comment does not contribute to or belong in the community or discussion, your only recourse in most places is to downvote. Yeah ideally mods would remove every such post but that ignores the fact they are few in number, often absent, and generally follow their rules to the letter instead of moderating on vibes.
It bothered me how that account just made up names for the dogs if they thought it'd get more likes. Pretty sure they renamed "ethnic-sounding" names to bland ones like "John" as well. It's quite possibly the least important thing on the planet but it still bothered me lol.
Occasionally good games get nominated for the correct categories (Terraria for Labor of Love) but it's very rare. I haven't even played any 2024 games but wanted the badge so I just nominated some off brand games that will never win.
I'm an absolute Borderlands slut so I am pumped for this. I really hope the monetisation scheme is fine and that they added some QoL features I've been wanting since 2012 (multi quest trackers?!) but either way I'll probably play this.
Depending on what you mean by casual, Terraria fits the bill. I love sitting down with a journey mode character and taking the game at my own pace. For the first playthrough I would probably point people to softcore normal mode as it's the "proper" way to play, but once you've grinded out goals once then journey is a really nice way to take control of the game's difficulty on the fly.
This really depends on the type of person you are. I find with the time pressure each in-game day that every time I launch it I get caught up in a mess of wiki pages and spreadsheets figuring out the ideal crops to plant and when, what gifts people like and when to gift them, etcetera etcetera. It became stressful and I stopped playing it after finishing most of the main objectives.
This problem is solved by having paper towels (air dryers suck) and placing the paper towel trash bin next to the door so that you can use your hand-full of towels as a barrier between the handle and throw the towels away as you leave.
Real tree, usually with 10 strings of lights around the rooms but that has been reducing as we age. There is a smell and ambiance of a real tree that can't be beat, it really sets the winter mood.
They kind of shot themselves in the foot by launching it paid. I saw plenty of launch coverage when you had to pay a subscription and also buy games but everyone knew they would shut down because it was Google so no one bought into it. This is the first I've heard of it being free and I had to confirm it but that would have really sweetened the deal on launch.
I enjoyed 7 when it first released. The visual style in the first 10 minutes was appealing and I figured we were retreading the same notes for nostalgia before going on a different plot with Finn. Nope, just poorly written rehashed story lines with nonsense plot devices. So much potential thrown away.
