  • From the recent polls I've been seeing, Trump has apparently reminded a lot of conservative voters that they are Canadian. When asked how we should respond to Trump's tariffs, "equal retaliation" and "escalation" combined for like 80%.

This whole thing seems to have poked that button we have where we can watch a hockey game, see someone start a fistfight over a perceived slight, and consider that a perfectly reasonable response.

  • It's about timing. Voicing the criticism as loudly as they were during the election, is the wrong time. During the general election it's too late. Candidates and policies are set. All the criticism does at that point is get the fence sitters to stay home. The day after the election is the time to start getting loud. Make them well aware that midterm results depend on them listening. Start working on primaries. Find people running for office that actually do support your ideals more closely and work on getting them nominated.

Long story short, the election is just damage control. To force change, you got to put in the work in between elections.

  • All traffic from that device is going to pass through the router. In order to start communicating with the other device, the first device has to send a packet. The router sees that packet, and routes it to the other device. If there's no internet connection, things die here, but the router still saw that initial packet.

  • That's one of the things I actually love about the LCBO. They are willing to get any liquor on the planet for you. The only requirement might be that you have to buy a case, depending on what it is and where it's coming from.

  • It's literally just going to be whichever cabinet minister is already in charge of that portfolio. Say what you want about everything else he did as prime minister, but Trudeau has always been able to deal with Trump's bullshit. Who knew high school drama teach would be such incredibly relevant job experience.

  • We're polite because we have to be. We started inventing war crimes because we heard a rumour that the Germans may have crucified a guy. Our national sport regards fist fights as a reasonable response to minor infractions. If we weren't polite, we wouldn't be able to have a functioning society. It tends to get softies like Trump confused.
