  • Merit a hearing = 0 chance, but it shows the public and DA that this is going to be a fight, and to appeals.

It concerns me that we haven't had more of this, he should be running a ferociously aggressive defense, the only reasons he wouldn't are:

    1. Very confident that he can't be convicted as a matter of law. I suspect convicting him by jury would be hard, but definitely possible. The federal charges are more concerning, the US As have more influence over juries often.
    2. They know this is bad and are waiting to knock out a few key pieces of evidence in a long-shot hail-Mary because it's their only chance, and otherwise they want room to make a deal.

I hope it's not the latter.

Personally I suspect they're confident in a hung jury on the state charges but know they're going down hard on the federal ones, and are trying to spin it as federal overreach, which won't work but it's an argument.

10 years from.now if the pendulum swings back he can appeal and get out that way.

  • Really depends on the target, llvm goes between unrollimg and vectorizing cleanly, to unrollimg to a ludicrous degree, to refusing to unroll period.

Some of it is subtarget specific, but sometimes it's just weird.

Gcc is evil incarnate, all it's passes are at war with each other, loop Canon form often broke vectorization and even unrolling period.

  • We had a huge population of genuinely evil people who were locked away in the rural south so they could only abuse black people around them.

Then social media gave these people a voice and politicians realized they could pander to the trash with funding from the billionaires and that's enough to keep them in power indefinitely.

  • The Palantir threat model specifically says only a fringe will put up a fight right now.

There's a projected line in the sand where people stand up, but so long as you stay on one side, you're safe, and the scary thing is, you can push that line and it will move.

The plan is to be super aggressive now to move the line, then 12 months from now to act all domestic abuser who regrets it and love bombing to cancel out most of the anger before the midterms.

In their defense, this is exactly how Reagan did it and it worked.

  • Yes, but the Palantir model says exactly where that line is, which is why he's able to be so aggressive with so little pushback.

There have been times Trump overruled the model and started getting pushback but that's when he reversed a day or two later.

It's weird, he's using a massive Ai threat model as basically a poker odds computer, and badly, surely nothing could possibly go wrong here.
