  • Honestly everything the Nazi's did, the Commonwealth of the United Kingdom did first the Nazis just scaled it up big time. Modern concentration camps, British. The idea of The Final Solution, Canadian. Forced sterilization and eugenics, born in Europe but expanded upon by the United States. At least Canada is trying to find justice for the victims of it's past. Even if it's obviously failing. Is Canada genocidal now, no. We're they, absolutely. Are they do enough to reconcile, not even close.

  • What they're really saying is that the dominant wavelength our sun emits is around 500 nm. Which by definition is green light. Astronomers also call everything heavier than helium a metal, which isn't true but that's how they work.

  • Talking about stars and light, white is the opposite of a non-color. It's all the colors all at once. Black is the only nob-color. Our sun isn't actually white, it emits a broad spectrum of light which appears white to our eyes, it actually emits more green to blue-green light than anything else. Look-up the sun's spectrum or the main sequence of stars and you'll see what I mean.

  • You would be surprised. Family friends of ours are Greek and rich, and they do not do anything small. I hate to perpetuate stereotypes but if you've seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding, it's like that with them but for everything. Birthdays, the christian holidays, just a summer BBQ, all huge. The bride and groom on top yeah that'll tip the baker off but that's not hard to quickly put on yourself.

  • Yeah I don't understand religions that view medicine with scepticism but practice prayer with complete confidence. If I was religious I'd see modern medicine as a mericle. We can cure most cancers easily. Granted not all cancers but most.

  • Nothing and everything. Joe Rogan's 'I'll talk with anybody' reputation which made his show so appealing at the start landed a lot of right-wing extremists on that show. People began to criticize Joe Rogan for not having any standards and giving truely horrible people a platform. Typically the more left leaning a person was the more they criticized him and this has slowly pushed his opinions to the right over the last decade. Additionally a lot of Trump supporters began to see Joe Rogan's show as a means to popularize and legitimize their beliefs. Since Joe Rogan is so impressionable, and Trump supporters found a home there he made the final leap into right-wing conspiracy theories after Trump was elected and has been getting even more out of touch with reality ever since.

  • I don't think many people are but enough are and they're the ones with political influence. Not to defend Elizabeth Homes but why Elon Musk gets away with it is sexism, and being able to deliver on the odd promise then highlighting that success to cover for his failures. He's done much worse but he's given a pass because he presents the image of a male entrepreneur. Maybe not you or I but enough of those people with political influence are sexist and that's why the hammer came down on Homes. They both deserve to face justice but only one did.

  • It's all on a state by state basis. So 'right to work' states like Alabama, Texas, Virginia, etc, there are very few regulations. There the employer is viewed as the owner of the job and can basically tell the employee to work anytime. States with stronger regulations like California have much more stringent policies and there it's if not less likely to work a lot of overtime people are likely to be paid for it.

  • There's one thing that I miss about downloading music and that's knowing that in some cases it's good the artist isn't getting any money. Admittedly I'm happier knowing that most of the artists I listen to get paid now that I stream. I know there's a huge discussion about how artists don't get paid enough and I agree but that's not what I'm talking about.

Like if I downloaded their music, uploaded as little as I possibly could, then listen to it alone and don't share, talk about or popularize their work in any way, am I supporting an artist accused of rape? It's kind of the same argument as 'if a tree falls in the woods, does it make a sound' or 'death of the artist.' Now to be frank, there are bands/artists that I don't listen to on streaming services because I know they will benefit from me listening. Rammstien is one of them.
