  • Seconded. Still got my free 50GB Mega from years ago. I'm assuming they will reduce it someday but I shall use it at its fullest til that day comes.

Their clients are also source available, but I don't think many outside people check them anyway.

  • I'd argue its in their best interest for it to be as secure and widely used as possible. Can't have other govs peeking (every lock can be lockpicked yadda yadda) and can't have people instantly know its the US military when someone accesses Tor.

  • I understand they were fond of the tutanota name. But I can't believe they kept the tuta part instead of any of the new names they were brainstorming.

I know what tutanota actually means, but in spanish, Tuta sounds almost exactly like Puta (bitch, whore) when said in conversation. Its like if an email service was named focque.com without taking into account how it sounds in one of the most spoken languages in the world. And they had a chance to take it but kept the tuta part.

But I like the product, just wanted to rant.

  • I get that that is the rational explanation. But I swear this one day I woke up after having a short but very specific dream, I was in class talking to my friends sitting in a very specific position and one of my mates said something. Later that day that situation happened and I almost said what he said in unison.

Years later one of those guys also told me about it, so its not like I made that memory up. But it just doesn't make sense??

  • Agree with everythint but just one thing. None of the donations are going into this side of Mozilla, this is Google money mostly (and some Pocket money too probably). You can only donate to their foundation and their activism, but not to any of their software projects (except Thunderbird but no idea how that works IANAL)

  • Mostly likely isn't, I follow the account. Most of the time they post very obviously outlandish fake facts, sometimes smaller fake facts and sometimes innane ridiculous real facts. That's their gimmick "low quality".

  • Oh yeah, I get its on purpose and I enjoyed the movie a lot. Its just so perplexing to see so many people consider him to be this cool smooth dude when he's meant to be so lame. He can't even talk back to his coworkers insulting him in his face, come on.

  • I know the most likely answer is just that they've never seen the movie at full, but I truly don't get what people see in Bateman. Man's pathetic. He has a mental breakdown because of presentation cards, kills a random man and his dog because he was made to look bad in front of his circle and couldn't retort back, his monologues read like an edgy 13 year old trying to sound cool and badass, he solely puts sex and violence on TV and barely looks at it even, spends all day playing around in his office instead of working and constantly speaks in an incredibly obvious fake pretentious voice.

Even in his killer side, he constantly trips over himself and panics every time the detective questions him, he craves approval even from his victims and much much more.

He's so lame its funny how so many people see him as this weird superior sigma chad when he's anything but.

  • It got steam because it was one of the first ways to technically "chat for free" even if it had a price tag at first. Most countries had unlimited data but still billed people for every sms sent. Whatsapp introduced the concept of an app solely to chat with others through their phones for free/a one time fee forever.

By now it has reached critical mass and its basically impossible to get people to migrate anywhere else. Everyone would have to change apps at the same time.

People don't really see any particular appeal in WA, its just the default now even if its just meh. Sadly.

  • Its the default in most of the world, there is no moving anyone to Signal since WA is just enough for most of the population and basically have the exact same features. Telegram has a bit of an audience but its only because its more like a social media/chat app hybrid.

A good chunk of the world also runs on low end phones and having an extra chat app to chat with maybe 1 person at best is a waste of space to most.

  • I'm using regular Firefox and its still the same, pages take too long to load or they randomly reload if left unattended. It feels like a browser from the early era of mobile apps with a coat of paint, and yeah it has only existed for a few years
