Canada actually produces very little vaccines because in the 80s the Conservative government thought it was a waste of tax money. Thankfully that's changing since the Covid pandemic.
Tomatoes are the most popular field vegetable grown in Canada making up 23.9% of production. That equates to around 543,000 tonnes produced per year. 98% of all tomatoes are grown in Ontario and most tomatoes are used in "processing". However, Canada is one of the top importers of vegetables in the world with tomatoes being 5th place in most imported vegetable. An additional 177,000 tonnes are imported (mostly from Mexico and USA) to supply demand.
So while we produce a lot, it still isn't enough to cover domestic consumption. I'm sure we could make domestic ketchup, but it would be taking away from tomatoes already being used somewhere else in Canada.
Ah yes, now I remember why Trudeau was forced to resign. I almost forgot because he spent the last few weeks explaining we must stand against nations that bully their neighbours and threaten their sovereignty.
Rushing your decisions is a common red flag in scams. I'd say it's probably enough of a red flag to stop talking with them. You can try to slow play things and if they continue to hound you then it's almost certainly a scam. They're probably going to do something like:
Ask you for money to purchase things you'll need for your job (MLM/pyramid scheme)
Give you a large cheque, ask you to cash it, give a certain amount of the cash to someone, and keep the rest for yourself (cheque fraud).
