  • Yeah I came across one sansa that has Bluetooth. It's a shame these dumb device mp3 players got phased out. I found myself wanting one for when I don't want to carry around a phone for something more compact while still delivering good quality sound.

  • I've been the weird one where I refused to make a real Facebook account and would make a throwaway with fake names when I'd need it for classes. What would prompt the creation of another throwaway would be when Facebook would lock my account and demand I send in ID or picture verification.

  • I only used reddit as my big social media and then discord for messaging. Fediverse has become a good alternative to reddit, but discord will be hard to convince people to move over to alternatives like matrix or revolt.

  • It's still part of the Meta platform so not completely independent.

  • It will be so important once US election cycle comes around. It became a game of wack a mole individually blocking subreddits versus just setting relevant keywords to make the reddit viewing experience wonderful as opposed to a rage inducing. We need a Fediverse Enhancement Suite.

  • Spread out communities makes it easier to avoid a single admin deciding to go crazy. Like imagine if Reddit had been composed of different instances, so people were able to just pack up and leave the instance he was on and not lose all their communities by quitting the Spez reddit instance. So you make a good point. Maybe over time there will be topic based instances popping up like an instance for entertainment, and an instance for games. Which would be pretty cool over a swiss army knife do everything approach instance where everyone starts migrating communities too because it has the largest user base.
