  • Main thing is I get a notification on my phone when it’s done. I’m not always near my washer. Sometimes I forget. The times vary a lot by load size so a timer it’s as good. Saves me time and keeps my clothes from getting moldy

  • Yeah would hate to have big laundry know about my lights and darks being mixed.

  • Also:

If you have access to an Apple dev account this is avoidable.

  • Pollution easily kills shellfish. If anything, that’s an indication that they are clean and from clean places. Oysters feed of phytoplankton, not waste/garbage and pollution.

  • Oysters actually need clean/unpolluted water. What they eat and clean is sediment, phytonutrients, and phytoplankton. Well at least that’s what I was tood by an oyster farmer. They clear the water which is good for the sea grass, and the small fish, which is good for the big fish and so on.

  • I did. Wasn’t very funny. Sounds way off. And it’s missing that gravitas and authenticity you get from a human. It’s hard to describe. I don’t like it in principal. And I don’t like the result. And the AI from a topics point view sounds like a grumpy edgy boomer. Real Carlin didn’t.

  • China’s own megaconglomerates aren’t doing any better. They openly steal from their populace, and exploit their workers in inhumane ways. Just look at the mass embezzlement of peoples life savings in the housing market by ultra mega sized publicly traded corporations. China is basically a hyper capitalist corporatocracy, with extra authoritarianism sprinkled in with no upside.

  • Apple is neither making nor engineering silicon for any of their produce.

  • It’s like complaining about a phone charger being left in the socket when the windows are open with the AC on.

Those produce bags weigh like 1/4 of a gram. Those produce reusable bags weigh like 30 grams. Most people lose or break, or toss the reusable produce bags before using them 120 times. It’s feel good bullshit for high consuming Whole Foods shoppers. And it’s a distraction.

To be clear, I’m all for reusable grocery bags, and generally against single use items. But the produce bags are so thin and light, they’re probably the least problematic.

  • I’m gonna start doing my Duolingo more. Even if it’s just a few minutes at bedtime.

  • Either way I find it funny that the same anti westerners who say China is fair to its workers, are the same ones who always mention that my phone is made by slaves. Sometimes in the same discussion.

  • That’s weird. By the time weed was recreationally legalized in Seattle weed being acceptable was old news, and people had been smoking without worry for a decade.

  • Refernerdums of this size and impact should require more than a simple majority. Or countries would just reinvent themselves and rectify new constitutions 3 times a month.

  • AMC will be bankrupt before the first hearing anyhow. They’re massively buried in debt, and just diluted stock, again, by quite a bit, while barely making my a dent in its debt.

$AMC has lost 80+% of its value in the last year. 98% lost since 2021.

  • Can’t imagine Congress would stop this. Congress overwhelmingly approved aide for Israel just weeks ago. It was more popular to give money to Israel than Ukraine in the GOP.

  • Hybrids also last longer than EVs. And it’s not even close:

As per the results, on average, EVs are 79% less reliable than ICE-powered vehicles - despite having fewer moving parts and simpler drivetrains. The results also show that plug-in hybrids fare even worse and are 146% more problematic compared to conventional ICE models. However, traditional hybrids were ranked the best - producing 26% fewer problems than even ICE models.

Call me selfish, but I like really expensive purchase to last as long as possible.

  • That’s not how car sales work. People want EVs without major downsides. Until that’s what’s available we won’t be see EVs surpass 10% market share.

  • By making their own, you mean telling Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company “hey we are going to buy enough of these units that you have to give us the specs we chose at a better price than the competitors, and since we chose the specs off your manufacturing capacity sheets we will say “engineered in Cupertino TM” “

Btw I’m not shitting on Apple here. I love my m2 processor.

  • They’re both bad, but Apple is clearly less bad about privacy than most big hardware or software companies by far.
