  • I don't think Biden has a particular issue with Harris being qualified. He did endorse her within hours of bowing out, after all, and in so doing, cut off everybody who was salivating at the idea of challenging her for the nomination at the knees.

  • Not from a bullet wound, they don't.

I still maintain that he got a scratch from a shard of the teleprompter at worst, and has been milking it for all it's worth.

  • It looks like this system is designed to snitch on the other cars around the snitch car, rather than the snitch car itself.

  • It was, though. Just one that was exacerbated by the Supreme Court.

The Electoral College is the reason the Supreme Court even mattered in that election. If it wasn't for them, the vote count in Florida would not have been instrumental to the final decision. Gore's lead would have been too great for it to matter.

  • Even with the vote count the SC ratified, Bush still didn't win the popular vote in 2000.

  • I said they have an advantage. Not an insurmountable one.

It's not for nothing that the Republicans have only won the popular vote in the presidential election once in the last 25 years, and yet we've had three Republican presidential terms.

  • Sure, but the Electoral College affords Republicans the same advantage in Presidential races.

  • Honestly, I think that's part of their problem. That Twitter is edging into their territory.

  • The Electoral College isn't technically a gerrymander, but functionally, it's the same.

  • True, there are pecker checkers out there. And they are the biggest fucking weirdos.

  • We're a week into Kamala's candidacy. Things are going to change around very quickly.

For now, this is a promising sign, but it doesn't mean Trump is done. There's still a long way to go until November.

  • Oh, he is 100% a Trojan horse, but the people he's a Trojan horse for are just as bad. Basically every shitty money-man in Silicon Valley that imagined himself a Randian Superman.

  • So just going with closed minded dick, then.

  • That story is horrifying on so many levels. If even half the claims in there are true, all the "adults" involved deserve the slowest, most painful death imaginable.

  • Instead of saying you read the book and acting like a closed-minded dick, you could actually read the article and actually find out what you're talking about before you open your mouth.

  • The thing is, normalcy bias prevents people from listening when you call them rapists, fascists, totalitarians, and all those other things they actually are. But "weird"? Weird is obvious, and it cuts into the Republican brand to the bone.

Trump's whole appeal is based on a fiction of him representing the common man; the "blue collar billionaire". More than that, the Republican party has built their entire brand for decades on a sort of radical normalcy, on being the voice of the "silent majority", on being the representatives of "real America" against those latte liberal elites from the coasts. "Weird" takes all the wind out of those sails. They don't actually represent middle America; they're way too out there for that. And it's long past time somebody said so.

And I sincerely doubt Austinites are going to flock to Trump because of the "weird" thing. Austinites are the kind of weird that Republicans have been trying to suppress for decades, and they know it.
