  • Floating solar sounds like a bit of a gimmick to me, I suspect if it was as easy as the people promoting it make out, it would already be everywhere.

It also doesn't help that our hydro is mostly at the other end of the country to where all the sun is.

  • We're incredibly fortunate to have so much hydro too, because it can be ramped up and down so quickly, so it works very well to fill in the gaps in base load.

Dams that have low water levels still work quite effectively as peak plants, too.

  • This is pretty poor communication, I'd expect better from an organisation like NZ Post, especially considering how important their service is.

There could be medications, and other vital stuff in that truck.

  • By the time the police were called, they were refusing to leave, acting beliggerent towards staff, and generally ruining the experience for everyone around them.

The video that they posted themselves makes them look pretty awful.

  • There's a video of the incident in an article someone posted in the comments, they were asked to either remove the food, or leave and get a refund, they declined to do either. Their conduct towards the employees was also way out of line.

Honestly, both parties are pretty awful in this situation.
