There's one side that have done some very questionable things over the years, and there's another that went out of their way to massacre civilians. I'm by no means a fan of Israel, but Hamas are outright evil.

Hamas is the elected government of Gaza.

They're whatabouting the fact that Hamas do, in fact, represent the views of most Palestinians. Comparing them to the Aboriginal tribes is a grave insult to the latter.

Fair enough, I don't get why paying for just YouTube isn't an option.

No, but having a handful of people who will never see their ads devalues the whole package.

Were those casualties civilians though, or were they mostly soldiers? That's the key difference.

Having read the book some time before seeing the movie, I was pretty unimpressed with how much of the story was left out. Most notably the reasons behind Hal going off the rails.

2001 absolutely is a boring film though. Impressive on a technical level, but very slow burning, and there is so much that they don't bother to explain to the audience that the books actually cover, for example Hal's reasons for going off the rails.

I work with fire alarm systems, as others have said, smoke, steam, dust, and even insects inside the detection chamber will trigger a photoelectric smoke det.

I don't think they'll care or miss you, to be honest. It's not like they're making money off you.
