  • Much less clever and subtle. I would call that a pretty low bar, honestly. Helluva Boss also has a lot of poorly-written content IMO, but in Hazbin it's nonstop bad writing until there's a small glimpse of something competent. I would recommend Helluva Boss to anyone who likes shitposts and sitcoms, but I wouldn't recommend Hazbin to anyone right now.

  • Recently this was Hazbin Hotel for me. Thought I would give it a shot but it's written like a kid's show instead of an edgy adult comedy about demons.

  • I completely agree, I don't know why everyone sucks that show's dick so hard every time it's brought up. It's good for TV, but a lot of it is just hard to watch because of how stupid the writing can be.

  • Of course Linux is better for custom, purpose-built hardware. That's like, its main advantage for the commercial sector.

  • Any used ThinkPad will be an incredible value with Linux installed.

  • I disagree, American police are objectively awful.

Police do a very poor job at making communities safer. The vast majority of arrests are for marijuana posession and parole violations, more than all forms of violent crimes combined. (https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/13/us/marijuana-arrests.html https://www.themarshallproject.org/2014/12/04/the-misleading-math-of-recidivism#.FjOQam9Kv)

Police families are 200-400% more likely to experience domestic violence, at a rate of ~20-40% of families overall. (https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2017R1/Downloads/CommitteeMeetingDocument/132808)

Police also commit sexual assault (mostly towards minors) at a rate 150% higher than average. It is the 2nd most common crime committed by police. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/how-some-cops-use-the-badge-to-commit-sex-crimes/2018/01/11/5606fb26-eff3-11e7-b390-a36dc3fa2842_story.html)

Despite this, no official nationwide data is collected on police crimes.

Cops are known to plant evidence, to force false confessions, to exaggerate or fabricate their statements, and to make up charges like “resisting arrest.” Cops also have an internal code of silence colloquially known as the "Blue Wall". In a survey, 52% of prosecutors said that they believed officers fabricated evidence "at least half of the time". 90% admitted that they directly saw police commit perjury "at least some of the time" (https://heinonline.org/HOL/LandingPage?handle=hein.journals/ucollr63&div=11&id=&page= <- this article is paywalled, but this one summarizes its findings -> https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/albertsamaha/blue-lies-matter#.vgDy4bdKN)

Police have entire PR departments focused on recruiting and rehabilitating their image, please don't fall for it. Police do not make anyone safer. Police uniforms evoke fear and distrust in those around them, and represent people who are much more likely to negatively affect those in their lives.

Those who believe they can "change the system" by choosing to be good are ignoring how deeply-rooted and systemic the problems are. Those who do speak out against misconduct are likely to face retaliation, ex. Frank Serpico.

The only solution is to completely rework the way that Police interact with the public. Currently, militarizing them further just contributes to exacerbating existing issues.

  • U got a sauce for that? My instincts are telling me that we don't evolve or mutate that fast lol.

  • Hopefully we can use AI to filter out AI articles at some point in the future lol. Or at least find better sources using Search.

  • Trump is just using social media to provoke random acts of political violence that are statistically predictable even if they are individually unpredictable. Republicans don't see this as a problem because much of their ideology is predicated on the idea that anything that falls under "statistically predictable yet individually unpredictable" is a myth invented by the libs to turn the frogs trans.

    Basically, stochastic terrorism.

  • Saving this so I can come back in case you're right

  • It's getting really sad that I see articles like this and immediately think "India", and that's usually right. I'm not even particularly acquainted with the culture of the country, but I'm exposed to cases like this all the time through the news. Really creates a fucked up perception. I wonder if it's actually that bad over there, or if it's just overrepresented in the news.

  • I feel like it's still mostly fine for individuals who are savvy and know where to look. In summation, though, I think the abundance of mis/disinformation spammed on social media combined with a lack of media literacy is socially corrosive.

  • Improve the birthing process so you don't have to rotate just to fit on the way out. Either make babies smaller or vaginas bigger (in which case penises would have to compensate I guess)

  • I loved Oppenheimer because I love biopics. Didn't bother with Barbie because it seemed not my style.

  • If it works on your setup, DaVinci resolve. If not, Kdenlive. Those are the only really professional video editing programs available at the moment.

  • Realistically just use what you prefer. The differences between distros, even when it comes to performance, are very small when it comes to gaming. The most important things IMO are good Wayland support, stability, and consistent updates.

  • DbD is my jam recently. Spirit is just too fun to play with all the mindgames you can do.
