I also got banned from all communities on .ml that I had participated in after making a joke about how Tienanmen Square was like a glue trap for tankies. Really bad image for Lemmy. Considering we're growing as a community, I don't see why we should allow authoritarians to participate. Allowing that will just ingratiate their standards into the culture of the platform.
I mean AI bullshit like Copilot being added to Windows then quietly paywalled, ridiculous products like the Rabbit R1, and the arms race involving products that aren't ready for market or produced ethically. LLMs still just make shit up a lot of the time.
The biggest mistake I notice with non-native speakers is verb conjugation, especially with future tense. This may be because I hang around a lot of Vietnamese ESL people, idk. For example, "I go" instead of "I am going" is a common mistake I see.
For natives, the biggest mistake is misspellings and a lack of punctuation. Occasionally you'll also see excessive punctuation and run-on sentences.
Yes. Tech is a hype-based sector where the actual value of products is obfuscated by marketing. When the AI craze settles down, hopefully we'll stop seeing it injected into everything.
At the cost of huge amounts of wasted energy and the whole litany of concerns that are always co-morbid with AI, but technically yes they could work for this lol. Ideally we'd have standardized APIs and mandated pricing transparency, but unfortunately we live in a capitalist society where that will literally never happen ever.
When someone offers you a panacea that requires 0 effort and is popularly accepted, it's pretty appealing. Especially if you're scientifically illiterate and don't know why it's bullshit.
New Vegas might be my favorite game of all time, but I would by no means say it has good graphics. It has a great vibe to the world and impressive locations, but those character models, man...
Also the pop-in is insane. Seeing Helios One load in is crazy.
Housing needs to retain its value so politicians can stay in power. Appealing to homeowners with policies that enrich them is popular, but bad for everyone.
If they somehow managed to patch it then that's awesome, what does this say? I remember having a similar thing where it said one refresh rate but actually drew another.
As far as I know, unless Mint has patched something very recently, that 144hz monitor is throttled to 70 right now. You still probably have better frame times, which matters, but is obviously not the same as a higher refresh rate.
It's just a fundamental flaw in X11's design that can't be fixed as far as I know.
