  • It’s unlimited data for your phone and not for all the devices you can connect to. I agree with your sentiment. Just trying to point what the companies have in their ToS. I will be glad to hotspot to all my devices from my phone and not pay for WiFi.

  • It’s to stop people from abusing unlimited data on their cellphone for all their WiFi devices at home. I know a person who did not have WiFi at home and only used their cellphone data. You are using more than a typical cellphone user and also you are cutting them from an opportunity to sell you a WiFi plan for your home. It’s annoying, but as I understand it, this is the reason.

  • So Nintendo can force everyone to buy a Switch to play Mario games? From what I see, consoles are locked in as well and we are forced to have PS/Xbox/Switch for their exclusive games. And this is legal because they aren’t as big as Apple? Why can’t I buy one console to play any game I want just like I can install any OS on Android?

  • I remember the days of the 100 SMS limits and wensites for texting. I had a second SIM card which I could switch to in case I went over the 100 SMS. Then I moved to the US and it was free SMS! WhatsApp was also $1 back then so people who just use the in-built messaging app if they didn’t have anyone residing outside the US. US is still ridiculously expensive for phone and data plans.

  • This isn’t an example of lock-in by Apple though. Developers are free to develop android apps but most of the independent developers don’t because of the different android versions and manufacturers, at least initially.

  • Not just testing, it used to be an issue many years ago. I’ve let people know that I’m still getting auto-responses when I know they are back from vacation. It happened to me too and I was reminded by my coworker. Also, the idea is you don’t check the your outlook when you are on vacation. It’s not designed for people on vacation who still check and respond to every email.

  • The incentive is to move old stock and offer additional discounts without advertising it as they will be selling it below it’s contracted price. This is the only scenario the sellers are not trying to screw the customer. They are protecting themselves from being sued.

  • The prices are not shown outside of the cart because the companies are using loopholes to sell it at a lower price than they are allowed to as per their contract. It’s always lower and not higher. Going after this loophole means they will stop selling at a lower price. No need to make an assessment when the price will be lower at checkout. I have never seen any complain about getting additional discounts at checkout. This is one thing American consumers benefit from. 😂

It’s different when the prices are higher like for concert tickets as you will see a massive difference at checkout.

  • Not sure what you mean uninformed. They will see the price in the cart before checkout. Also the price here is always cheaper for the customer. This is one thing we don’t need the EU to regulate to stop these kind of discounts. They can go after “convenience fees and surcharges” on other websites, like $40 fee for a $100 concert ticket.
