  • Honestly that site is genius.

They provide as much information as possible for all their hardware. Specs, drawings, CAD models, similar products, item codes, CAGE codes, everything! All without requiring an account or membership. Why do that when someone could just take that info and use it to find a cheaper source? Especially when they're more expensive than other sources by 25% or more? Well because engineers will often grab their models and use them in their designs, and when it comes time to order things, knowing the parts ordered will have the exact dimensions and specifications as the ones in your model is often worth the premium. Plus they have so many products that if it's not on their website, there's a good chance it doesn't exist anywhere.

Most other hardware sellers use the worst model imaginable for their sites. The kind where it's like "Oh, you'd like some tubing? Well give us an email, make an account, and send a message to our sales team to put together a quote for you. And we won't share the full specs until you do, so there's no guarantee that we even have what you want."

McMaster really embraced the philosophy that if you make things as easy as possible for your customers, they'll choose you even if you're more expensive.

  • If the US reserves gold, why do they also reserve silver? Why do they reserve grain, oil, steel, cheese, or foreign currencies?

Because it's dumb to put all your eggs in one basket and the more you diversify, the safer it is. Like it or not, Bitcoin is an asset; and barring a global disaster that knocks out all electronics, it's unlikely to go away. It makes sense to have some and sit on it.

Will there come a time when everything falls apart and the only way to trade with another power is with tons of wheels of cheese? Probably not, but if it does, the US is ready.

Will the same ever happen with Bitcoin? Probably not, but if it does, the US is ready.

  • To OP and others giving similar answers; ok, so you take control of the person...

Do you actually know how to do the things you say?

Using OP as an example, do you know how to use those hacking tools? Do you know how to go about hacking everyone's phone? Because otherwise the only thing you'll have access to for a minute is whatever is in arms reach of said NSA agent.

  • I would argue that, rather than 6 months, you should really wait until after you've spent a winter in it. Lots of things that might seem odd during warmer months suddenly make sense when everything is cold, icy, and freezing.

  • I can't figure out how to enable the document scanner by default. I can only get it to work by pointing my camera at something and waiting for it recognize that it might be a document and then ask if I want to scan it.

  • Planes? Hobbiest drones? You know you can just go out and buy a drone and fly it around right? All sorts of shapes and sizes and colors.

This whole thing reminds me of a saying:

"Anything can be a UFO if you suck at identifying stuff"
