yes. I decided pretty much that if someone tries to pick a fight and just comes at me with insults right out the gate, I just block and move on. no need to drag it out with jerks who don't show even the bare minimum human respect.

drinking and smoking for me. I ditched the booze early this year because it was worsening my health and mentality. unfortunately literally everyone I know is a heavy drinker and I live in a small town with nothing to do but go to the bar. it's rough out here man. getting sober nuked my social life but at least I don't have to deal with hangovers anymore.

what shocks me is that nintendo never made some new pokemon games in their old GBA or DS style. it would be perfectly suited to phone limitations and expectations and there is a huge potential market for that style of game.

that's my point exactly. there does not exist a governmental system (and never has at least as long as nation states have existed) that is not tyrannical in some sense.

they are subject to the tyranny of the US federal government, and I'm sure there are people within their territory that would not consider their tribal governments to be representative of their needs

I think it's an interesting coincidence that you chose that group because I used to live in an area where several different haudenosaunee nations had reservations. there are many hardships that they endure because of the federal government but also because of poor management or corruption in their own governments.

edit to add: if we include their pre colonial history, the haudensaunee were like any other culture. they had conflict with their neighbors. they had conflict with each other. they engaged in warfare against other groups for reasons including feuds, control of land, the capture of slaves.

I was just thinking about this because I've been going through and blocking every political community. I've found that when that is gone, there's really not that much left aside from random technology focused stuff, some memes, asinine twitter screenshots, and a fuck ton of linux stuff. And the comments sections of seemingly unrelated posts often devolve into political shit slinging. I'm on an instance that blocks lemmygrad and hexbear so I can imagine it's far worse for the ones that don't. I'm starting to sour on lemmy too because there's basically nothing here of interest to me anymore.
