@SPOOSER Getting the algorithm right is a challenge. Reddit struggled to get a balance of both interesting topics while keeping spam off of the front-page. Kbin/Lemmy will have the same problem. Kbin seems to do a better job than Lemmy IMO, but it still lets too many memeposts/shitposts on the front page. You still have to block the worse offenders.
@Graphine He "became" the founder by taking over directly. But he was totally incompetent and the rest of the company basically had to keep him from interfering.
That’s at best half the story. The other half is that Musk was always this crazy nut-case. People just ignored the truth, just like they ignored the same stories about Steve Jobs. Hell, he didn’t even found Tesla. That entire story is something he made up, and in fact the rest of the company has to keep Musk from interfering.
@LiamMayfair The world will still be using fossil fuels until well beyond 2050. We already need to start the conversation about geoengineering and climate mitigation strategies.
@dryguy The algorithm needs to be improved. It needs to adjust for the number of boosts/favorites that large communities get. You should be seeing posts from all of the subs you are subscribed too and not just the most popular ones.
It’s currently unrealistic because of the difficulties of recycling li-ion batteries. The reason lead-acid batteries are recycled is because it is such a simple battery.
It's going to be hydrogen cars in the long run. We need a zero emissions vehicle that doesn't depend on rare or limited resources. That inevitably takes us down a certain path. If not hydrogen directly, then something made from it like synfuels.
It's also worth noting that Musk was always this cruel and evil of a person. Modern social media is just making it obvious, at least to some, that this is the case. The more we push out this fact, the better the world becomes.
You mean the Fediverse as a whole, not any one specific platform? In that case yes. But it won't be just Lemmy.world or even all of the Lemmy instances. It will be all the platforms that use the ActivityPub protocol that in combination will replace Reddit.

If the mods really find it that irritating, they might as well ban all Musk-related news.
