  • As someone who ordered the 64GB version, they never should have sold that thing. The entire thing gets filled with shader cache so fast. Not to mention any software you actually want to run on the device like EmuDeck, Chryoutils, Heroic Launcher, etc. etc.

  • I pretty much just assume "Free To Play" games are full of microtransactions, is that wrong?

E: to be clear, I don't think microtransactions are an inherently bad thing. In fact, if people want to make games where other people with more money front the costs of development, I'm all about it.

What I hate is being reminded every 5 minutes that it has garbage skins that I can pay IRL money for.

  • I have a Tesla. It's great. I've received dozens of new features OTA. There are no subscriptions (except a very reasonable $10 for additional cellular connectivity, that I do not pay for). It's the best car I've ever owned.

    Also Fuck Elon 👍

  • no one will ever get me to pay for ads

I don't know where this comes from. Ads are a currency. You choose to allow ads to replace or supplement your payment, or you can choose to pay to forego them, on most all of these services. That's not an option we ever had with cable (or any type of social media, for that matter).

Running these services costs money and you pay money to fund them. These industries have operating at a loss for many years and they are just getting around to being profitable, and they do that by increasing costs.

If you don't want to pay for the service, just be upfront and say so.

  • Mullvad the browser, not the VPN. They partnered with the TOR project to create it. So it has all the same browser protections of the TOR browser except that it doesn't go through the TOR network so it's actually mostly useable for general daily use.

Mullvad is probably the best choice exclusively for VPN. I chose Proton only because of their "suite" of products under a single subscription.
