  • Just installed it here. Setup process was not as smooth as I had hoped but nothing beyond what I'm already capable of fixing on my own.

Ended up nuking windows with it (with no backups) as it didn't have an option to keep it without manually setting up every partition. Hope I won't miss it.

  • Do you recommend Bazzite, or any other similar distro, for gaming PCs?

I currently have a dual boot system where I use Linux for work and windows only for gaming and gamedev. I've recently started cleaning up the windows disk in preparation for replacing it with something like SteamOS, but haven't decided yet on what to use.

  • Not really a plot hole, but a missed opportunity. Dumbledore's Phoenix could have shown up to help Snape - putting Harry in a mindfuck state as he would know both that Snape killed him and that Snape was loyal to him.

  • Just last week we found a bug in our system in that if an user accepts a meet on pc while also having the phone app open, the meet is opened in both devices, - that alone could end very badly.

  • The in-universe explanation was that the hospital created his department for PR reasons so that they could say they are the best at diagnosing stuff and so attract more patients even though most patients would just go to regular departments. The PR worked and so House's department would often get transferred patients from other hospitals too, when they couldn't figure out what was happening to them. Regular people would also seek out House specifically when they felt like they weren't getting the right treatment.

But my interpretation of it was that the whole PR thing was just an excuse Cuddy came up with to help House. She knew what he was capable of but also knew he would never fit in on any regular job so she created something specific for him. She's the friend every ADHDer or autistic dreams of having.

  • My interpretation was that he cares about solving the riddle in time, kinda like competing with the diseases to show he's better. I don't remember anything about him caring about the people specifically, except for a few specific patients that he liked.

  • In any specific god? no. What I believe is that we don't know and will never know anything beyond our own existence. We don't know what we are, in the grand scheme of things (or if there's a grand scheme at all). We don't even know if we actually exist.

I just live my life to the best of my abilities and shrug off all that "beyond my existence" stuff as pointless. If I tried to think about it, I don't believe I would ever come anywhere close to a real answer anyway.

  • Well there's a million ways you can interpret that data. Apple usually makes very opinionated stuff ("this is how it works and this is how you're going to use it"). Autistic folks tend to do have big issues with that sort of stuff, so it's only natural they'll gravitate to something else where they can use it whoever they feel is better.

And women in general have been pushed away from IT for a few decades due to how they're treated in those groups, so it's only natural they'll be underrepresented among Linux users.

  • If you approach it with a standard videogame attitude (get the strongest weapons and most powerful skills, steal everything that is worth good money and so on), then it is a solid game.

If you approach it as a simulated tabletop rpg game, it is fantastic. You can experiment with all sorts of things. For example: in one fight I was outnumbered and cornered in a small room, with enemies coming from outside. I pulled some furniture in front of the door to block the passage, threw some oil on the ground in the other side and lit it with a torch, then hid my characters behind the walls out of any projectile's path until I could fully heal them.

Unlike other games those weren't things that the devs put there specifically for this fight. There was no button prompt suggesting the furniture could be moved or anything like that. They just put a bunch of stuff in the world that can be interacted with in many ways depending on what sort of skill you have and leave it up to you to find a way to use them, or not. You can still min-max your stats and ignore all that. You won't even know you're missing anything.
