  • Being queer I see a lot of the people I know deal with this broken part of them

A lot of those who flee from religion do so as true refugees

This is what I fear most. But it happens every day. Most Christian's paths don't start until they leave the church and most never do.

The reason queer communities are tight knit is because they realize that people can’t exist without some kind of family and if you don’t have one you make one from scratch.

I am glad to read this. Communities are a big part of growth. I think the modern Christianity lost that bit somewhere along the way.

I personally hope Christians use the blowback as a way to reconnect to the core principles of their faith and reflect on the precepts of radical kindness at the core of Jesus’s teachings.

They will, the problem is it will take time. I just wish we didn't have to hurt everyone seeking that growth.

  • What happens when we get to that 45 day funding deadline and we have no speaker....?

Because Republicans don't want to work with anyone.

MAGA team doesn't want to work with anyone.

Democrats don't have to lift a finger to help anyone.

I feel like I am watching three sloths in a Mexican standoff with a box of lit dynamite in the middle.

  • I am a Christian and am willing to throw myself into the ring.

I think we deserve all the hate we are receiving and more. I am a firm believer of the separation of church and state, because I actually have studied the history of that phrase, and I know Christians wrote it in blood.

Very little of that matters though, because the balance of power has been shifted too much into our area.

We were supposed to minister to people, wash people's feet, love their neighbor.

Christian's were supposed to be servants of our communities, and instead we became the rulers. Instead of showing compassion and understanding, we are tyrants with no passion, logic, or understanding for our fellow people.

Just the love of Money. "In God we Trust"

There will be a power shift back, and I don't think Christian's are ready for the blow-back. But I will say, we will deserve it, for we have become vile tyrants.

  • If Trump could hire the best lawyers money could buy, he would.

Problem is he is either stiffed his previous lawyers, so the smart ones don't trust him.

Or those lawyers are now witnesses in his legal battles. So they can't represent him.

  • She doesn't seem too bad, she has a history of helping union workers in nursing and janitorial duties. So she had a good history for organized labor

    However....

Butler joined SCRB Strategies as a partner in 2018. At SCRB, she played a central role in Kamala Harris's 2020 presidential campaign. Butler also advised Uber in its dealings with organized labor while at SCRB.

Butler left SCRB in 2020 to join Airbnb as director of public policy and campaigns in North America

SCRB Strategies seems to be a "for profit" political consultation group. Airbnb needs no introductions.

It's hard to say whether she took the money or not. While some organizations declare her net worth around $300,000, others report it around $16 million.

Laphonza Butler owns more than 7 real estate properties, valued at over $3 million in total. These properties bring in nearly $500,000 annually in rental income. She also invests in stocks and government bonds worth $2.5 million. Her investments include big names like Tesla, Microsoft, ExxonMobil, Google, Walmart, Universal Studios, and Bank of America.

TLDR: So at least from what I can see in her past.

She is going to be big oil on issues, she is going to also have a lot of personal incentive to keep rental prices high, and she has a bit of a history defending labor. What that means going forward is going to be hazy.

  • Quite a read.

I don't think you need a random person on the internet telling you this, but you made the right choice.

Work from home jobs are starting to pop up everywhere. While some of these companies can try to close Pandora's box, this tech is only going to grow.

Companies that can adapt will find themselves with a grateful workforce. Those that don't will find themselves with empty office spaces.

  • A 30% increase in performance just might get gamers to switch over to the new operating system.

Hell that is the difference between a better graphics card for some people. It's like getting a free overclock, just for going outside your comfort zone.

  • You accept donations?

Forgive me if this is a silly question, I usually hang out on the Kbin side of things, and I haven't seen any donation requests or even an idea that you did.

Are you keeping donations private for now?

  • Usually stuff like this isn't sudden. It's a buildup of problems and management until the body can't take it anymore.

They knew she was going. They cared enough by dragging her to political theater across the nation which probably accelerated her condition.

I don't hate democrats, but it is hard not to see the evil in this.

  • To the question: Do you have any evidence of wrongdoing by the president of the United states.

All 4 republican witnesses all said, they don't have evidence of wrongdoing.

If this was a real court case, with average individuals, the case would have been thrown out.

  • I've resigned to put Star Citizen in the same basket as Half Life 3, and a Knights of the Old Republic remake.

Love the concept and commitment to the ideas, but I don't actually expect to be able to play it.

  • Even though I am a stanch proponent of eliminating CEOs as a ruling class.

If you cheer on the killer before getting the whole picture, then you and me ain't friends.

The Suspect pleaded guilty to a first-degree sex offense charge in 2015, and was sentenced to 30 years in prison with all but 14 years suspended. Denied parole, he was released in October 2022 on good-time credits, according to parole commission Chairman David R. Blumberg. According to court records, The Suspect previously pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in December 2009 and second-degree assault in June 2011

he was released on Oct. 5, 2022 and is listed as “non-compliant,” though it was unclear why.

“This individual will kill and he will rape,”

Only reason this is getting attention is because the person killed was a CEO. Though, this is also another case of the law letting a dangerous criminal out early for good behavior, when he was clearly not being his best self.

  • I am going to play Devil's Advocate for a second, hopefully to show a bigger picture.

Biden was ahead of trump by 12% when he ran against him, and barely won. Now he is nearly 9% behind and we are supposed to have a victory parade?

I like Biden, more then likely will vote for him again, but we cannot miss the obvious warning signs that Biden has a very good chance of losing to Trump.

    Mostly because

    1. He didn't keep his promises.
    2. The economy is slowly rebounding, but it is clear that the average American is still feeling the stress of this post-recession economy.
    3. His age is showing. He's hunched, he is talking more softly, he's slower then he was 4 years ago, and cannot project himself like he used to. He's aged like a fine wine, but he's also fermented like one too.
    4. Biden doesn't have a reason to spend 4 more years in office, but he does have a plan to prevent Trump from being elected. Which is okay, but it is the exact same playbook that lost Hilary to Trump in the first place. I hear nothing about Biden's policies outside of the semi-conductor bill, but I sure do know that Trump is going to put the corporate tax at 15%, I know he is going to allow people to shoot Mexicans on their soil, agree to an abortion timeline. Horrible stuff, but at least people understand where he is.
  • The thing about being "Armed" is the fact you are indeed dangerous. As a gun is a tool with one job, to kill people.

It's not like a gun is a fashion accessory for these people..... right?

  • Business speak apology PR might work on the average gamer.

This is businesses he tried to screwed over.

But it just goes to show that some CEOs have no idea what their product does.

  • A large part of Turkey's economy and value right now is that they are being a middle man between Putin and his problems.

That being said, if he gives that up.....

Putin is not going to have a middle man between himself and the next Prygozhin.

The only value he will have will be that which Russia ascribes to it temporarily.

  • I feel the problem with that mindset is that it implies that the government would have a direct benefit to denying the existence of aliens. When the reality is that defense spending would nearly double if proven true.

NASA is kind of in the same boat, once alien life is found, suddenly people are going to want research and collect data on the new life, which means their budget goes up too.

So there is a direct intensive to finding aliens from two places of government.

Then there is the personal benefits, you get to be the first human in history to discover aliens.

As an academic, your face will be in every history book titled "First contact." You will be on every talk show across the US and abroad as it would be translated into multiple languages. You'd be famous and wealthy whether you wanted it or not.

So when I look at the argument that the government has a direct intensive to hide the truth, I don't see a fair argument. Just people that assume the government has those intensives to hide from the public, when the reality is the opposite.

  • Just as a reminder, if Nazism wasn't allowed on twitter, then Elon Musk would have to ban free speech like this.

    Edit: Satire folks

  • I do apologize, I seemed to have put every parent into the same logical group of thought, and that is wrong on my part.

Though I will reiterate the argument that once you start piling the cost savings from a work from home job, companies would have to pay more at a minimum to match those cost savings.
