  • I love the user level control. block urls, instances, communities, users. I really would love like trust cafe where you can rank things from 0-100 where 0 is block and 100 is subscribe and your feed will prioritize posts from things you rank higher for the in between values.

  • traditionally a generation was a span of 20 years but it seems shorter spans are being used now im not sure of the age difference. That being said Xers in the us would be pretty used to shaved so im wondering if the person is not from the us.

  • We required they make a constitution were they rely on us for defense. We dictated it. I just can't handle the president is so ignorant of basic us history and apparently all his advisors and anyone close to him who could explain it. Granted I can see why ignorant hicks like this guy.

  • sorry. no one would get the reference. so I knew a developer who lived way out in the country and was both a part time firefighter and part time cop and we (people at work) would always sorta make fun like if the window washers were dropping down its like. theres salman practicing one of his extreme careers. I actually wrote it hoping you would respond enough for me to tell my little story.

  • someone with far more experience replied to me and he might be better to ask. Im sorta viewing this as like the equivalent of sputnik for what it is and like how long it took to get civilian gps in the 90's. So like 30 or 40 years. stuff by and large goes faster now so im thinking this may be something utilized by actual space industries if they can get going in the next ten or twenty years. I mean ten is unlikely but never know. Total peanut gallery opinion from me though. I don't work in the industry im just a science and technology geek.

  • Im not sure then why mars was mentioned in the article. Is the power really limiting though assuming solar panels just for lunar transmission (earth retransmissions) and maybe more not only so that some are active at any point (seems almost better than battery but maybe battery would be better) but also using directed antenna to get info to the points we want to get the information to (so like ones that send info to the lagrange point and others that are more for lunar surface gps). I hope im getting what im thinking across clear enough.

  • I hate this, lets compare historical figures like they have the knowledge we have now. The US constitution was a massive evolution but also a transformation in how a government would operate in particular in regards to democracy and power coming from the governed. just a written codified document behind a government was a pretty big deal much less the separation of powers and documenting of rights.

  • You need to be fine not being in a relationship. If you do not achieve this then the chances of having a good relationship goes to practically zero. This is true for men and women. If you are fine not being in a relationship then you will either be unbothered by this or end it or talk with him more openly about the relationship to a point where it gets fixed or ends.

  • Not really. You are taking two different things. Political actions are not a black and white thing. I gave an example on how threatening one agency leader for political gain is not comparable to a blanket order to achieve something apolitical. That is what is not black and white in the sense you can't compare those things even though on some level it is doing the same thing. Pressuring leadership. Even my voting is not black and white despite the term being used for something else than I had been using it with. When it comes to politicians having to work in a way that is appropriate vs not appropriate and that is a decision I make as I decide how to vote at each election. I vote super democrat now but did not in the past and may not in the future. One thing that would get me to vote less democrat would be the republicans to implode or lose so much they become inconsequential. The exact reverse has happened though so the most likely thing is I will be a consistent democratic voter. If democratic president came in and did everything that had the reverse goals of trump but used his congress/judicial ignoring methods. And republican ones for some reason started working for theoretical conservative principles (not low taxes and deregulation but free market, no having debt, rainy day funds, general fiscal responsibility) except they worked within a system that they strove to make as democratic as possible. I would vote republican.

  • well. you are living my dream. downtown condo with like a nice weekend getaway on a nice wooded rural area would be my dream. I degress though. Im a city boy. I like walking, and biking, and transit, and hate cars. I like having many options close to where I am at. I also like the little close community you get. Like my neighbor and I bring up each others packages when we are returning from some place so its right at the door. I also like the security like that. Everyone moves packages inside when they come even if they don't move them further (unless to heavy :) Then also like if I go on vacation I worry less with my condo. Someone would have to break into the complex to then break into my place and would likely draw my neighbors attention if they take to much time or are using something that makes a lot of noise. When I was in a house leaving it for a week could guarantee a break in as it was easy as busting a window. That being said I do totally miss having a nice garden. I can grow things on the balcony but its more work for less. Could literally throw seeds down in spring and get stuff to harvest in fall. I mean theoretically. I put in some work and did prep the space more and water and stuff but im sure I could have been that lazy and get more than I can from a balcony. The reason the balcony is more work is largely watering. With containers you have to water more often and can't over water. With a garden you put in a sprinkler and turn the tap after the sun goes down in the evening and you don't want to do to little but if you over do it, as long as its not to much, its fine.

  • I think the plan is to expand it. Put antennas like this at specific points like 6 around the sphere. Im sorta surprised that they don't use a rover setup to maybe plant them as specific a location as they can. I think the theory is we can use what we have at earth and place beacons around such that you can get more and more exact measurments. Much like gps became more and more accurate. I would expect things put into lagrange points and such to. I mean they will have to do something to get this working out to like mars.
