  • Funny. I call myselft a centerist and don't do that. Progressive/leftists don't consider me progressive leftist because Im not in lockstep with everything the particular leftist/progressive believes in and they are right. Im left of center which means im firmly a democrat as republicans are no were near center at all. If someone is saying both sides I don't think they are anywhere near to center. Its like saying both sides with the ukraine/russia thing.

  • certainly. even lower. Some people can be vigorous in their seventies but they are not the majority, 50's many go down. That is one problem with raising the retirement age in general. There is only a subset that can keep working as age goes up.

  • The real problem is the relative wealth disparity. That is why his fund is so dominant. Paul mccarthy just became a billionaire. just barely and it reminds of when elvis was one of the richest persons and paid the top tax rate. Paul mccarthy should be at or near the top of wealth right now.

  • Totally agree. This is not exactly a good example in impropriety but I don't see why holding office should not restrict holders investments to broad total market index funds and bond funds.

  • Im more a stan ridgeway fan than wall of voodoo. I remember picking up a cassette way back and was very disapointed and did not understand what happened. Its only decades later that I found out. Its like tull and ian anderson for me even though the band has never not had him hes pretty much the influence I like. ironically im not wild about his solo stuff. I find he really needs some good artists to keep him grounded. Stan on the other hand, I like his solo stuff.

  • This is very true. This century we are pretty much hitting the limits of growth and globally the response has been to hit the accelerator.

  • there is nothing wrong with the blockchain. cryptos main problem is the proof of work using to much energy. blockchain to actually do work with the energy it uses efficiently is great.

  • nope. usual supply and demand at play. same as you won't pay more if they have an idea that you can pay more. The salesman may try but ultimately the price is the same.

  • Im talking about the time when mac enthusiasts would brag about how many more ports a macbook had over a windows laptop. I use the term just because when they went minimalist design coincided when the apple store started acutally said they would not deal with something which was the cable losing their casing which did end up being a design issue so they handled it later but previous to that they would never not do something unless it was obvious you took a hammer to it or something. my last mac was the macbook pro erra with the dvd-i port.

  • I was initially going to upvote this but the fact is that if someone cannot go to a doctor and get something resolved they will look elsewhere. Whether its a failure of the medical system or limitations of our medical technology there are many reasons someone cannot get treatment or even advice. That being said if one has access to speak to a doctor that should always be their first action.

  • I loved macs back when it was more maximalist design and its service was beyond reproach. anyone buying a pc might be installing linux on it. not that many vendors specific to linux.

  • just heard a blurb from him about ending electric car subsidies on day one and his crowd cheered.

  • Im not gonna cry for any company that did not extricate itself since crimea. There have been butloads of time and a goodly amount to do it slowly and slyly.

  • so much agree. Why do we even allow data brokers? How about something like an entitiy cannot collect information that is not necessary to conduct the business it is in and cannot sell or provide that information to any other entity outside of the one they collected the information from which must be provided free upon request.

  • Yes as I said. Down the line disabled will be used such and because we cow tow to such people disabled will be such in a decade. Im not honestly engaging in the concept of connotation in that im not sure if that is what we are discussing as it is not a commonly used word so and not using them causes discourse to be rather limited. My god dwarfism is a thing as well and a dwarf implies a different condition than midget. These words actually have meaning outside of use as a derogatory which again is not their main usage. These words were not created as deragatories. Where I grew up in the middle of the block was a place called NSAR. I don't remember what it all stood for but the R was retardation. Now this place housed, fed, educated, and helped adult people with retartdation get jobs. Did they do this to troll them with their deragatory name. No, they did not collect and spend this money for their welfare in a secret mission to be jerks. On the other hand there has been a troll individual using the term in troll posts that I have reported and downvoted because they are just throwing it around as an insult. Due to such usage its now avoided, and it is a freakin medical term. We seen this with things like woke and pepe the frog and I have heard people use special or differentially abled to sarcastically insult someone. We can cede terms all we want but its not going to stop jerks from being jerks and maybe people consider me a jerk for feeling this way but I still feel the way one uses language by some should not have us just throwing things out of the lexicon.

  • where do you get cripple is a physical appearance description? do video game thieves use differentialy abled strike? ten years from now you will have folks say using disability or disabled makes you worse than hitler. the words only have deragatory meaning to those who have decided they are such.

  • I know he chose to not have kids and the phrasing I used has been used with him in particular forever to emphasize the extreme challenges he had to deal with. Its great you like a certain more generic phrasing which could be applied to anyone.

  • natural selection does not choose whats best overall, just those that can reproduce. steinmetz was a hunchback cripple dwarf who was the actual intellectual powerhouse behind GE and responsible for much of our quality of life in the modern age.

  • why is there a shortage. where im at in the US driving a train pays well enough to attack people. usually any shortage are due to training time.

  • ty sir. I will give it a try.
