  • If you remove his skull he will definitely die naturally.

  • She's out-stretched her humble origins alongside Barry Shitpeas, that's for sure.

  • I mean, I lick every frog and toad I find, but this guy is getting popped right in the mouth.

  • My main thought is that this is very reminiscent of the way saints are portrayed in stained glass.

  • I don’t understand what anyone’s thinking when they use him as an icon over here.

We are also governed by billionaires who own our press and control our politicians. It doesn't matter that Mangione did what he did three and a half thousand miles away, what matters is that he is a symbol for the ultimate sanction the people can have against a billionaire class who are otherwise unaccountable and untouchable.

  • I guess we had enough of our own stoner bands (or stoned-friendly bands) with the likes of Pink Floyd; Yes; Jethro Tull; Hawkwind; Ozric Tentacles; Emerson, Lake & Palmer, etc.

Though American acts like Frank Zappa and Canadian acts like Rush made inroads.

  • I have a letter opener made by my great uncle for my grandfather.

What makes it interesting is that my great uncle worked as a mechanic for the RAF, keeping Spitfires flying during the Battle of Britain and the letter opener is made from discarded parts from Spitfires he worked on. Not sure what the blade was, some small strut or something, I suppose, and the handle is made of different-sized washers.

  • This is one of those questions where the answer will probably change from day to day.

Today I’ll say Count Zero, the middle book of William Gibson’s Cyberpunk trilogy. It built on the ideas he explored in Neuromancer and was tighter and less rambling than Mona Lisa Overdrive.

  • 32, just before my metabolism slowed down, my muscles gave up and waved a little white flag, and without any warning at all, I was suddenly a fat bastard.

  • That was the joke dot jay peg.

  • When the service is mature enough to have decent stats on miles flown / crashes and that ratio is better than manned planes then sure, why not?

Remember, kids, aircraft are still the safest way to fly!

  • I love a cheese toastie. I do mine in a cast iron skillet these days because one less specialist gadget in my cluttered kitchen is a good thing and because the clean up is easier.

But seriously, post your cheese toastie recipe to !recipes@feddit.uk! It's not for gourmet meals, it's for recipes that people actually use and love. For e.g., here's mine for a Sausage, fried egg, and Reggae Reggae Sauce sarnie.

  • But I bet your cheese toastie game is on point!

  • I'm not entirely sure, a lot of it is instinctive. My weakness is baking because I'm mostly a 'measure by eye' kind of cook and baking requires more precision than that. I guess I also have quite a good ability to imagine flavor; if I can imagine how a combination of ingredients will taste then it'll usually be a pretty good meal even if I've never tried it before.

Also, I enjoy cooking which helps a lot. I like playing with good ingredients, learning how they react to different cooking techniques and so on. And I love to entertain and watch people eat food I've prepared. Food is love!

[Come on over to !recipes@feddit.uk and !cooking_with_fire@feddit.uk - both could do with more regulars!]

  • I’d heard of them but hadn’t ever heard any of their music before I lived in the US for a bit.

  • I'm a good enough cook that several friends have seriously suggested I apply for Masterchef, but I have no interest in the restaurant side of the competition.
