  • Yeah, it's fucking awful. John Money was incredibly fucked up as a person, and even with all of the terrible that's documented, there's at least hints that it was even worse; that the surgeon who fucked up the circumcision did so, so that Money had a twin pair for his study. Using a cauterizing iron in that way and at those settings certainly wasn't a standard procedure.

  • So, I'd like you to make a prediction, based on what you currently believe. What percentage of people, who went by wpath/ current dsm diagnostic criteria and treatment logic, come to regret it?

  • In absolute fairness, this is what happened to David Reimer. It's how we know that you can't just force a gender on someone, even if you start when they're an infant. Conversion therapy never ever helps, it only ever hurts, and trying to force trans kids to be cis is as bad as trying to force cis kids to be trans. Let people pick their own goddamn paths in life, it's not that hard to keep your nose out of other people's business (not you, the busybodies who have to "save the children" from well researched medicine and medical professionals with their common sense .)

  • No, the rules are (mostly) open to change, but you don't get to pick a new game. Physics is what it is, the immutable ground rules of the game, and it's the only game in town. Everything above that, the social reality that is most of what people think about and engage with, can be changed, but you do have to invest a lot of energy to shift the inertia of the existing system.

  • Most people think the game can't change or shouldn't be changed. They're a much bigger issue than the people trying to get by who think the game can be changed.

  • Lindsey Graham, who went on to say that they would deserve it. He has, of course, knelt and kissed the ring ling since.

  • Not on the networks that will give him airtime, it won't.

  • This timeline is so dark Anish Kapoor tried to purchase exclusive rights to it.

  • Generally people usually it as a pejorative will include "radical", like any MF who wants people to have healthcare is out here doing kick flips and grinds.

  • The one on the left looks so surprised that the one on the right leaned in.

  • That's not bipartisanship, it's first past the post voting. You either vote for one of the big two, or you're taking a vote away from the one of the big two you'd prefer to win, making the one you want to win less, more likely to win. Is it fucked? Better believe it. Does it need to change? Aw hell yes. Do we have to work within the system while it's still the system? Yes. Yes we do.

  • This is the way.

  • I was hoping the anti abortion group was going to have to watch an actual video on fetal development. I know it wouldn't be, but the hope was there.

  • Even if it were 100% the case that this was the fault of individuals, sounds like the government should be regulating the industry to cease producing plastic for which it's a problem if people litter.

  • It certainly doesn't help that these people hired the pr firms that did propaganda for big tobacco to kneecap the climate movement. Maybe if they had spent that money in the other direction they could have been collecting subsidizes to develop cleaner fuels.

  • What do you mean when you say "true AI"? The question isn't answerable as asked, because those words could mean a great many things.

  • I can happen to you!

    ...am I being threatened?

Typo jokes aside, I actually have a minor issue with my pelvic floor that makes peeing a little harder, it takes some effort to go, so hopefully it neither gets worse nor goes that way.

  • And like their gut, their instincts are full of shit.

  • Maybe Clarence Thomas will decide to take John Oliver's offer.

  • If you’re arguing that the court needs to be unpacked or otherwise de-fuckified and he’s at fault for not doing so, then we’ll have something to talk about.

We still don't have something to talk about in that case. Biden couldn't do that unilaterally. He'd need the house (possibly doable but very uphill) and the Senate (not a chance in hell) to sign off on it. Which 10+ senate republicans are going to vote to tank the majority Mitch spent his life working to stuff the court with?
