Regardless of how you feel about what the answers are, what makes you think people are lying, rather than speaking the truth as they see it?

They intentionally keep saying "Biden", talking about Hunter but with the intent that people will take it as Joe. They got called out for it but like that would stop them.

We know that, and we hate it, but that doesn't make the problem go away. Shit sucks for us, too, and getting yelled at for it doesn't make anything better. It's why a lot of us will just limit our circles to people who understand from direct experience, and not make plans with people who don't have the 'flake' trait.

Voice calls don't have the same costs for everyone. I've worked in tech support, taking calls all day, and that shit wore on me. Dealing with text is just lower cost, at least for me. Pretty ableist to just declare one medium the one true medium, all others are a sign of ineptitude.

Might be worth noting, also, that an earlier generation said the same goddamn thing about phone calls, as compared to F2F interactions.

I'd also like to offer a counterpoint to the hypothesis that the commonality is the creep factor, and suggest that it is, rather, the social disapproval that leads to that. Why? For one thing, that disapproval makes it harder to satisfy. Sex is a need for humans in a similar way if not as intense as food, and people will display behavior amoral at best and immoral at worst in service to that need. Obligate foot fetishists, who can't get off without it, have therefore a more limited window for satisfaction of that need, whereas people who have options can get off other ways and don't have the heavy breathing and sweating aesthetic about them in the same way.

Honestly, my requirement for Biden was, "Not Trump". He has, over the course of his administration, performed not being Trump quite well. He has also actually impressed me with how much better he was than my expectation of him. It seems like every time I hear some shit that I get disappointed in him for like the rail thing, or the "nothing will fundamentally change" thing, it's turned out that he did a solution, maybe not in the way I would have re pushing the strike over, but he then went and got them the sick days they were striking for, without the massive damage to the economy a rail strike would have caused, or he was telling the money people that they could fucking cope with having a slightly smaller giant pile of dollar bills to play in like autumn leaves.

Trump earned my antivote last cycle. Biden earned my vote this cycle.

So.

I fucking hate the way money is tied up in our politics. I'd really, really like to see all campaign funding come from the government, in equal amounts, to candidates who meet some requirements. However, we don't live in that world. We live in the world of citizens united, corporations are people and money is speech. In that world, for Joe Biden to do anything like negotiate the sick days train workers were striking for, or have his labor bureau declare that companies trying to slow down unionizing efforts just have to cope with unions for doing so, he needs to be in office. To be in office, he needs people to vote for him. And for people to vote for him, in this civilization built by the dumbest apes capable of building a civilization, he needs funding. Funding to forward voter registrations, for get out the vote efforts, for advertising. So, yes. This event was not in and of itself productive for the working people. That doesn't mean that Joe, "If you pay more in taxes, nothing will fundamentally change for you"(to a roomful of those same rich assholes, telling them they can cope with a tax bump) Biden is in fact doing nothing for working people.

Yes, the system sucks. Big agree. To fix it we need a shitload of progressives in power, enough to not just outvote the regressives by a significant margin, but enough to drag the weak ass dems and the corporate dems along for the ride. You can't change the world until you can see it clearly.

Can you explain how this matters? Are the laws he writes worse for it? Does his vote count for less? Is he a less capable orator or thinker for it?

It's respectability theater, it's stupid meaningless bullshit, and we should have dropped it long ago, as best I can tell. It's a complete waste of time for everyone to be hemming and hawing about this, when we should as a species get over what the shape of the false skins other people wear for warmth and privacy are.

It's okay to be different from most people. You aren't a bad person for wanting to walk a different road. You are doing bad things if the fear of those desires causes you to attack other people for walking their paths. I hope you're able to find peace and accept yourself, one day.

Yeah but that's the thing, you didn't have to. Literally all you had to do was make your character, without hitting the button to change pronouns. You're making yourself mad about extra steps you didn't have to take. You could have just lived your life without getting angry about something you didn't need to interact with.
