  • I’m pretty sure that was grandma’s. If so, we had to have an intervention with her over that pan.

She’d become convinced she needed to lubricate it with lard every time it was used. Even when she cooked bacon in it.

“Grandma, please don’t kill grandpa by cooking pig fat in pig fat.”

  • It seared better than expected. My biggest problem is that my dad thinks it dangerous to use the oven above 350° & the stove top above a 5 (out of 10).

Did the best I could with the customer’s request…

  • No, not really I suppose. I meant to say “the Tuesday next after the first Monday in November“, but, well… I didn’t do it right.

“The Tuesday next after the first Monday in November” is the US’s Election Day.

  • I honestly don’t know why, but I want to hear what it sounds like when they use the bow on a fiddle other than their own.

It would likely sound terrible, but it might be funny to watch them try it.

  • And if it’s nature that catches your interest, in addition to walking, you could follow a live stream of some animal you may or may not care about.

I got into watching an Osprey hatch her eggs on a stream. Didn’t even know about the birds until I started, but the hook set quickly.

Watched that feed for weeks, checking to see who’s been eating, who’s been pooping, & who’s still sleeping. Pretty satisfying by the time the chicks left the nest.

  • At the time, it was video editing. I went to film school & was a post production supervisor for 15 years in LA.

Having a laptop I could edit on & just knowing how to use Final Cut, gave me a major leg up starting my career.

I knew more about nonlinear editing than most of the post staff as a production assistant, because Avid made it too cost prohibitive for prosumers & students with their proprietary hardware.

Then Apple pooped out FCPX & gave Avid/Adobe the market back.

Still stuck with Apple though, just really fell into the environment & have been able to keep everything moving rather seamlessly.

  • …however….

He was obviously willing to waive his tallywhacker around in front of a queer person’s security camera…

He’s still homophobic, but once he meets the right guy… ?

Maybe I’m just an optimist. Dude's still a dick.

  • Did I say it did? Not in any way. In fact, I’m pretty sure that I said that none of what happened justified the father’s behavior.

You know what I didn’t do? I didn’t try to reduce a complex story down into good vs bad, or start antagonizing anyone who disagrees with me.

  • According to the father, the super intendant rolled his eyes at the daughter during disciplinary hearing when she tried explained her behavior, & then expelled the daughter for doing the same thing her bully’s did to her.

Given that, I can understand a proud father holding some measure of a grudge over that, but not enough of a grudge to attack the person.

I think the comment’s OP is expressing something similar, being protective of a youth over an administrator jeopardizing the youth’s future.

I don’t think OP is condoning the attack, just acknowledging there’s more going on here than ignorance & racism.

  • You should submit voice samples to casting agencies that land voice over talent for commercials, and other media formats.

You don’t need an agent or anything of the sort to get started, just a decent sample of your vocal work.

Get it submitted wherever you can, you’ll never know what might come of it.

I was a post production supervisor in Los Angeles for a bit. I worked with VO talent, many of whom had entirely separate careers.

One guy was a bus operator & rode his bus to the studio after shift change. He was awesome.
