  • Also the implication is that Teen/Billy was driving and caused the accident that killed Wanda.

I think the implication is that Teen/Billy died in that car accident.

I'm guessing Billy Kaplan died and his body was taken over by Billy Maximoff.

Also, I'm pretty sure Teen is in the back seat. He's not driving.

  • It’s technically a civil war between the Republic of China and the communist uprising.

Yes, that's the war I'm talking about.

Taiwan continues to be controlled by the government of the Republic of China. Mainland China is controlled by the Communist uprising.

(At least, that's how the government in Taipei would describe it. The government in Beijing would describe it differently.)

what you’re saying is not technically accurate. China and Taiwan have NEVER been at war.

I said mainland China and Taiwan. They are both part of China. They are two different parts of China fighting a civil war for control of the whole of China. (Technically.)

  • We’re still not seeing the full context. I assume this was part of a wider conversation about the role of race in politics.

He’s making the point that a president’s actions matter more to voters (specifically black voters in this case) than a president’s race, which isn’t a bad point. (And I guess that’s what the audience is cheering for.)

I’m not a fan of Trump, but I’m also not a fan of taking things out of context.

  • If the movie doesn’t end with him assembling a new team of Avengers out of Marvel’s most popular characters (including a mysteriously resurrected Wanda — no explanation needed yet) to help him defeat the bad guy, they’re wasting their time.

And all the new Avengers need to say that they’re only joining the team because of their person respect for Sam Wilson. That makes Sam important, and leans into his greatest strength, which is being a nice guy.

  • Liberalism is a political ideology that arose in Europe in the late 18th century amongst intellectuals of the newly emergent middle class. They believed in individual rights and were opposed to the authority of the church and monarchy. (People who supported the church and monarchy were called Conservatives.)

Liberals later opposed the more collectivist ideologies that emerged in the late 19th century, like socialism and Communism.

Liberal ideas are so ubiquitous in the Western world, that you might not even realize them as part of an ideology, but they are.

For a long time, English politics was a rivalry between Liberals and Conservatives, and so those terms have been imprecisely borrowed to describe the Democrats and Republicans in the US, but that usage is incorrect. The US has never had a state church or a monarchy. Both sides of US politics are liberals.

  • The things Julian Assange published were things we had a right to know.

If our military is committing war crimes in our name, we have a right to know.

And it's really no surprise that the war machine is working overtime to smear him. I expect nothing less.

  • Just so we’re clear, bail is a temporary release from imprisonment while you’re awaiting trial. And the bail money is a deposit that you get back when you attend trial.

The purpose of lodging the bail money is to give you an incentive to attend trial, and the judge will consider your income when they decide the bail amount. A rich person might have to post more bail than a poorer person.

The last time I saw this question asked on reddit, the OP thought paying bail was an alternative to serving prison time if you’re found guilty of a crime.
