  • I can’t believe I ever heard that Lemmy was “too Communist”. Every sub I’ve seen is crawling with liberals who shout down any leftist thought with epithets like “tankie” and “bot”.

(Imperialist liberals. I was just permanently banned from /c/historyporn for trying to correct some Islamophobic misinformation in a neutral factual way. The mod said it was “sexist apologia”.)

  • In the exceptional republic that is the US of A, California is truly exceptional – and that grates with much of the rest of the country. It, and the people who hail from it, are too big, too rich, too inventive, too liberal – and altogether just too much, if you are from anywhere else, that is.

I had to stop reading because that paragraph made me vomit too many times.

  • I haven't watched Wakanda Forever, but […] Looking at some of the complaints, it appears to have a similar problem to other modern Disney films, in which women are put on an elevated pedestal and men are left to be bumbling idiots completely incapable of basic human functions.

No, not at all. There are three male characters in the film (Winston Duke’s M’Baku, Martin Freeman’s Everett Ross, and Tenoch Huerta’s Namor), and they are all very competent. One is a CIA agent, and the other two are leaders of their people.

I did watch Black Panther […] I do recall noticing that Disney chose only white actors to play all the villain roles in Black Panther

The villain in Black Panther was Erik Killmonger, played by the very black Michael B. Jordan.

  • because they murdered and destroyed the very civilization that created said knowledge

    What are you talking about?

Are you blaming the collapse of the Roman Empire and the ensuing Dark Ages on Muslims? (A religion that didn’t even exist yet at the start of the Dark Ages.)

  • it has likely massively hurt their prospects as a politician

    Or, the complete opposite.

Do you think there’s any way Pete, the mayor of a town of 100,000 people, would have become a national presidential candidate if he wasn’t gay?

  • I’m honestly surprised they haven’t brought up her Canadian background.

By referencing her Canadian background, they can subtly frame her as being “exotic” and “foreign” and “liberal” in a way that doesn’t sound racist (but which would provably still resonate with racists).

Also, “Canadian Kamala” has good alliteration. I could imagine Trump using it.

Edit: Oh, “Canada Kamala” sounds even better.

  • The dot key on your calculator is a decimal point, not a thousands separator.

Americans use the dot as a decimal point, and the comma as a thousands separator. This is the reverse of what most European countries do.

    An American would write $5,000,000.00

A Frenchman (or a Russian) would write 5.000.000,00$

  • Lets hear some policy proposals.

Here’s one simple trick that Harris can do on Day 1: Support the full inclusion of Palestine as a member at the United Nations.

(It’s possible that the UK or France might veto, but the US has generally been the obstacle to full recognition of Palestine at the UN.)

Once Palestine has international recognition as a state, it can start to benefit from international law, like the Geneva Convention.
