  • This would be more like EVERYBODY vs Russia.

I do not share your confidence about that.

Countries with nuclear weapons include China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and possibly Iran. And while I don't think any of them want a nuclear war, if a nuclear war breaks out, I can imagine three or four of them siding with Russia.

China might side with Russia simply because they're sick of the US trying to hem them in militarily through the "island chain" strategy. The US has the entire coast of China surrounded by military bases, which could be used to cut off China's trade routes, which is an existential threat to China because their economy is so dependent on exports.

North Korea has a historical beef with the US, and Russia helped North Korea survive through a period when the US tried to starve them.

India and Pakistan have a long-running dispute over Kashmir, and if India backs the US, it's possibly Pakistan will back Russia just to oppose India.

And Russia and Iran have been solid military and economic allies for a while now, working together in recent conflicts in Syria and Iraq.

  • One of the four quls (which Muslims are encouraged to memorize, and which are usually used in salah) says:

O Al-Kafiroun [non-Muslims]! I worship not that which you worship, Nor will you worship that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping. Nor will you worship that which I worship. To you be your religion and to me my religion.

It’s in the article I linked above.

  • and that’s the job of imams

Usually people do the five daily prayers in their homes or places of work with no imam around. They might go to a mosque once a week on Friday and hear an imam lead the prayer, and yes, the imam could decide to recite sura al-Baqarah (if the imam doesn't mind trying the patience and stamina of the congregation, who would have to stand in prayer for an hour while the imam finishes reciting it), but that would be unusual. And even if that did happen, it's not happening five times a day.

It's more likely that Muslims would hear sura al-Baqarah once a year, during Ramadan, when the entire Quran is read over 30 nights.

idk what mazhab you follow are you a shia?

    I didn't say I was a Muslim.

  • I don't know where you got the idea that reciting sura al-Baqarah is a common part of salah.

Reciting a sura from the Quran is part of salah, but usually the reciter will choose one of the short suras from near the back of the Quran (known as the quls).

Sura al-Baqarah is the longest sura in the Quran, being 286 verses long, and it is quite rare to recite it during the five-times daily salah, because no one has time for that, and not many people know it by heart.

  • now, anyone wants to talk about how many times do muslims curse non-muslims (and that too idol worshipers) in their daily 5 prayers?

I'm pretty sure the answer is zero.

The 5 daily prayers (called salah) follow a script, and none of it involves cursing non-Muslims.

(Salah is different from dua, a form of prayer where a Muslim requests something from God. That doesn't follow a script.)

  • I understand the controversy, because if there's one thing the internet loves more than free speech, it's cats.

If free speech has a limit, it's at the point where it starts to hurt cats.

My visa runs out soon and I have to return to the imperial core.

  • They're obviously a troll

They probably just made a typo.

Edit: Everyone loves Bernie, so it's probably just a typo. But even if it's not, why would that suggest that they're a troll? Isn't it possible that they just don't like Bernie? Maybe they're a Clinton-stan, or a Zionist. Why assume they're a troll? I don't see any trolling in their comment history.

Not every opinion you disagree with is a troll. This is insane. The paranoia on Lemmy.world about trolls is off the charts.

  • Because the US uses its Security Council veto to prevent the UN from taking action.

    And Palestine isn't in NATO.

What other international organization could intervene? The Arab League? The last time Arab countries fought a war against Israel to try to liberate Palestine, they lost. (And remember, Israel has nuclear weapons now, while no Arab country does.)
