  • Yeah, the repo shenanigans are something I definitely do not miss from my Ubuntu days. The simplest solution would probably be to look for flatpaks or snap packages instead.

  • No. Mint is fine for my dad who uses a browser and an email program and nothing else. I'm not gonna recommend it to people who do a lot more with their machines. I can tell them I use Linux and they can ask me anything if they are ever curious about making the switch, but that is it. If they don't make the conscious decision to use Linux, then they won't stick with it anyways.

  • I just can't stand Kate showing me a little orange bar meaning I have not saved the changes yet. The bar must be green! I am a slave to the green bar. The white dot in vscode (I use an open source build) is a bit more tolerable, but whenever I notice it I HAVE to save the file.

  • Using Prime Render offloading and an AMD APU also works really well with wayland. Really happy with my Ryzen 5 5600G + Nvidia GPU setup.

  • Bro the more popular user space driver isn't even maintained by AMD at all. I would not be suprised if you tell me you are using amdvlk.

  • Jomo - joy of missing out

  • By my rough estimation of all Arch users 50% are trans, 50% are femboys and 50% are furries.

  • I use Feeder on Android, it's open source.

  • I kinda like sometimes having to mess about. Beats having another browser annexing all of your data without consent or ads in your start menu. And the most important thing IMHO: it's only ever going to get worse with windows, while Linux steadily improves.

  • Remember when they came up with the concept of mRNA-vaccines and they thought it would change their DNA permanently? What we actually got was the most effective vaccines ever. Why is it that with actually good inventions like this we get skeptics, but when we get "AI" nonsense then everybody is just on board?

  • Eh, I bought Grounded in Early Access. Maye by Obsidian and backed by Microsoft. I think this should count as AAA. Also I think you don't mean that "small, indie studio" cause those are few and far between. Sons of the Forest? They have a Publisher (literally the opposite of being independent). I think there are lots of games which you have put into that category that are not actually indie devs at all. Anyway, my point is just that it's not a black and white issue.

  • Is that a permanent solution or do I have to set it up every time? I just use profiles. about:profiles there you can setup a new one and launch it in a new window. I like to theme the windows in a different color to not get confused. Bright red is for 18+

  • Economic liberals being dumb. Truly shocking. Now tell me a story about how conservatives are dumb.

  • The interview was a shit show, but your interpretation of this and that it supposedly destroyed I find ridiculous.

  • I'd be shocked if Edge installed itself and take over Firefox data in my linux install. Impressed, but also very shocked.

  • Reading this almost makes me wish I was a drunk and I could quit now. But I hate sleeping drunk way to much to ever get to that point in the first place.

  • Math

  • Bash the fash!

  • But NVidia isn’t a barrier for wayland anymore.

I disagree. When I used it recently it was still very much subpar compared to the AMD experience. It's usable, but not to the point that I would like to use it.
